ESPN Caribbean is the local division of ESPN Inc., that broadcasts in most Caribbean countries (in English). Operated as part of the ESPN International division, the service is composed of ESPN and ESPN2; both were launched in 2007.

Programming

As with its American parent, ESPN offers a selection of events in the world of sport, while also providing a Caribbean focus on sporting events popular in that region. ESPN's Caribbean networks air in 32 countries and territories. Key programming includes America's Cup Yachting, ICC World T20, ICC World Cup and Regional Super 50, La Liga, Italian Serie A, Golf Majors, NFL, NBA, MLB and Grand Slam tennis, as well as popular regionalized studio shows like ESPNFC. ESPN Caribbean also produces a regional version of ESPN.com, which provide sports news and programming information to Caribbean viewers.

ESPN Caribbean also programs ESPN Play, a specialized broadband network which broadcasts thousands of live games and events online each year. Content features enhanced coverage of events seen on ESPN and ESPN2, as well as some events exclusive to ESPN Play. In addition, ESPN Play also offers an archive of local content including ESPN events and original studio news shows. The service is available through participating service providers as part of the programming tier where ESPN's networks are available, at no additional cost. Sports featured on ESPN Play include Caribbean Regional Super50, ICC World Cup, ICC World T20, MLB, NBA, tennis, golf, among others.

ESPN Radio

ESPN Caribbean is also the regional distributor of ESPN Radio, which is currently heard over two stations: ZSR-FM (103.5) in Nassau, Bahamas (owned by Navetter Broadcasting Company); [2] and KLAS ESPN Sports 89 FM in Jamaica (KLAS Sports Radio Ltd.). ESPN secured agreements with ZSR-FM in 2011 and KLAS in 2013. [3]

CCTV-5, also known as the Sports Channel, part of the China Central Television family of networks, is the main sports broadcaster in the People's Republic of China. CCTV-5 began broadcasting on 1 January 1995. CCTV-5 now broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ESPN is the Brazilian division of ESPN Inc. Launched in March 1989 as Canal+, it was the first country-specific version of ESPN outside the United States, launched in June 1995. The channel has covered major sporting events, like the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics; the 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 1999, 2003 and 2007 Pan-American Games. High ratings and prestige in the segment have been marks of the channel; it also won the APCA award twice, in 1995 for "Best Sports Programming" and in 1998 for "Best Coverage of the 1998 FIFA World Cup".

In the United States, sports are televised on various broadcast networks, national and specialty sports cable channels, and regional sports networks. U.S. sports rights are estimated to be worth a total of $22.42 billion in 2019, about 44 percent of the total worldwide sports media market. U.S. networks are willing to pay a significant amount of money for television sports contracts because it attracts large amounts of viewership; live sport broadcasts accounted for 44 of the 50 list of most watched television broadcasts in the United States in 2016.

Sportstars, formerly known as MNC Sports, is an Indonesian satellite and cable sports television channel owned by Media Nusantara Citra through MVN and iNews Media Group. The in-house channel was launched on 5 September 2005, making it considered as the first sports channel in the country. The channel is available on satellite providers MNC Vision and K-Vision, as well as MNC Play, and Vision+.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Astro SuperSport</span> Malaysian sports TV channel

Astro SuperSport is an English language in-house subscription satellite television network in Malaysia dedicated to broadcasting sports-related content 24 hours a day. Astro SuperSport 1 to 4 are available on the Astro via Channels 811 to 814 (HD) to subscribers of the Sports Pack only. The Sports Pack features a total of 15 sports channels covering sporting events from all over the world.

ESPN4 is a Brazilian sports channel that was launched on 5 February 2012 as Fox Sports, replacing the Brazilian variant of Speed. A second channel, Fox Sports 2 was launched on 24 January 2014, which continues to use the Fox Sports name temporarily due to contractual obligations. On May 6, 2020 Brazil's antitrust regulator CADE announced that Fox Sports and ESPN Brasil could merge as part of the 21st Century Fox merger with Disney, with it remaining as-is until January 1, 2022 due to its broadcast rights and overall structure.

Star Sports is an East Asian pay television sports channel broadcast to Mainland China and formerly South Korea, operated by Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. It was previously part of the Fox Sports operations in East and Southeast Asia, but this version retained Star Sports name; ESPN Mainland China was instead renamed Star Sports 2.

beIN Sports France is a French network of sports channels owned by Qatari Sports Investments and operated by Mediapro. It is the French version of the global sports network beIN Sports.

ESPN Latin America is the Latin American division of ESPN Inc., and broadcasts sports-related programming for the region in Spanish. It was launched on 31 March 1989. Its programming is adapted to the likes of viewers, who tend to prefer football and Hispanic baseball players to the more locally produced programs.

Star+ was a short-lived subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service available in almost all Ibero-American states. The service was owned by The Walt Disney Company through the Disney Entertainment division and business segment.
