Last updated

Following the Fourth Crusade and Sack of Constantinople in 1204, different crusader states were established on the territory of the former Byzantine Empire ruled by West European Catholic nobility. Even after the Reconquest of Constantinople in 1261, Latin rulers remained active in the region.
