International Boxing Federation Muaythai (or IBF Muaythai) is commissioned under the jurisdiction of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) as a non-profit organization to regulate, control and supervise professional Muay Thai events worldwide.

History

The International Boxing Federation had their "1st Annual Convention of IBF Muaythai" in Bangkok, Thailand on 20-21, December 2017, and IBF muaythai was announced its formation on December 21, 2017. [1]

Daryl J. Peoples, IBF president, attended the convention. The new champions of IBF Muay Thai were crowned in 3 weight divisions, Pinklao Bangkoknoivillage at welterweight, Seksan Aor.Kwanmuang at lightweight, Petchaouthong Aor. Kwanmaung at Junior lightweight.

They organized their first fights at the Rajadamnern Stadium during the Stadium's 73rd Anniversary. Saeksan Or Kwanmung and Petchuthong Or Kwanmung were the first champions crowd by the organization. [2]

On April 28 2018, Youssef Boughanem from Belgium and Morocco became the first world champion as non-Thai kickboxer. In addition, he was the current WBC Muaythai world Middleweight champion.

Current champions

IBF Muaythai sanctions 17 weight division as same as boxing. [3] This is different from WBC Muaythai as it sanctions 19 weight divisions.

Kevin "The Soul Assassin" Ross is an American retired Muay Thai fighter and kickboxer. He is also a former Bellator Kickboxing Featherweight champion. Among Ross' achievements are the Super light weight WBC International championship Title, the Welterweight WBC USA National championship Title, the FIDAM Welterweight championship of Mexico and the United States Muay Thai Federation Welterweight champion. He currently trains at Combat Sports Academy in Dublin, California.

Jomthong Chuwattana is a professional Muay Thai fighter from Thailand. He is the WBC Muaythai Featherweight Champion and 3 times Rajadamnern Stadium Champion.

Michelle Preston is a Muay Thai Fighter and professional boxer. Preston resides in Auckland, New Zealand, where she has fought most of her professional fights. Preston has held many titles including New Zealand National Title, WBA Regional title and WBO Regional title. Preston is also a World title contender, fighting for the IBF World super flyweight title against Argentinian World Champion Debora Anahi Dionicius. Preston is also a Five time World Kickboxing Champion. Preston has fought on four King in the Ring undercards. Preston won her last World title on 17 November 2017 on the Main Undercard of King in the Ring. Preston won the vacant WBC Muaythai World Super Flyweight Champion against Fani Peloumpi by Majority decision.
