Rodriguez is the designate to serve as United States ambassador to Nicaragua after confirmation by the U.S. Senate in 2022, but he was rejected publicly by the government of Nicaragua before and after his confirmation. He has previously served as a senior advisor in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.
