  1. 1 2 Rai Coast Open MP Niuro Toko Sapia, who had only been elected in a 2007 by-election, died on 28 October 2009. James Gau won the resulting by-election in May 2010. [7] [8]
  2. 1 2 The National Court declared the election of South Bougainville Open MP Michael Laimo to be null and void on 21 February 2008. The court ordered a recount, which was won by Steven Pirika Kama. A subsequent National Court ruling on 9 October 2008 declared Manwau to be the validly elected member for Wewak Open. [3] [4]
  3. 1 2 Kundiawa Open MP Joe Mek Teine died on 25 April 2011. Tobias Kulang won the resulting by-election in August 2011. [12] [13]
  4. 1 2 The National Court declared the election of Wewak Open MP Jim Simatab to be null and void on 24 June 2010. The court ordered a recount within 21 days, which was won by Moses Manwau. A subsequent National Court ruling on 4 August 2010 declared Manwau to be the validly elected member for Wewak Open. [9] [10]
  5. ↑ The National Court declared the election of Kandep Open MP Don Polye to be null and void on 14 August 2009 due to election irregularities. Polye won the resulting by-election in December 2009. [5] [6]
  6. 1 2 Rai Coast Open MP James Yali had been convicted of rape charges prior to the general election, but was allowed to recontest his seat due to an outstanding appeal. He was re-elected, but his appeal was dismissed on August 13, 2007, resulting in the invalidation of his election win. Niuro Toko Sapia won the resulting by-election in November 2007. [14] [7]
  7. ↑ Kokopo Open MP Patrick Tammur died on 25 January 2012. No by-election was held due to the proximity of the 2012 election. [11]

He was Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology under Peter O'Neill from 2011 to 2014.

Francis Mulungu Potape was the Governor for Hela Province. He was appointed by the Hela Provincial Assembly after the death of the sitting governor, Anderson Agiru. Potape was Petroleum and Energy Minister of Papua New Guinea. He was first elected Member of Parliament for Komo-Margarima Open in 2008 and was appointed Minister of Petroleum and Energy in June 2011. His ministerial appointment was rescinded under the disbanding of the Michael Somare government in August 2011, but Potape was reinstated as Minister of Petroleum and Energy in December 2011, replacing then Minister, William Duma.

Tony Aimo is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2002 to 2012 and again from 2012 to 2013, representing the electorate of Ambunti-Drekikir Open. He was Minister for Correctional Services under Michael Somare from 2007 until 2011, although he was stood aside for three months in 2010. A long-time People's Action Party member, he was briefly reported to have joined the Papua New Guinea Party following the fall of the Somare government, only to emerge as a member of Somare's National Alliance Party.

Aide Ganasi was a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a People's National Congress member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from July 2012 to March 2013 and from September 2013 until November 2016, representing the electorate of South Fly Open.

James Gau Gelak is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2010 to 2017, representing the electorate of Rai Coast Open for the National Alliance Party (2010-2012) and Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party (2012-2017). He was also Governor of Madang Province from January 2011 until the 2012 election.

Sam Basil Papua New Guinea politician (1969–2022)

Samuel H. Basil was a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2007, representing the electorate of Bulolo Open, until his death in 2022. From 8 June 2019, to August 2019 Basil served as the Treasurer of Papua New Guinea.

Nixon Philip Duban is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a People's National Congress member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2012 until he was unseated by court decision in 2013 and again from a 2013 by-election until 2017. He was Minister for Police, Minister for Petroleum and Energy, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure and Minister for Petroleum and Energy in the government of Peter O'Neill.

He was Vice-Minister for Finance (1997) and Vice-Minister for Overseas Development Assistance (1997–1998) in the Skate government and Minister for Fisheries (1999–2002) in the Morauta government.

Tobias Kulang

Tobias Thomas Kulang is a Papua New Guinean politician. He has been a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea since August 2011, representing the electorate of Kundiawa-Gembogl Open in Chimbu Province for the PNG Constitutional Democratic Party (2011–2013), People's Progress Party (2013–2015) and People's National Congress (2015–2017). He was a prominent and outspoken member of the opposition before defecting to the government in November 2013; he served as Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture in the government of Peter O'Neill.

Amkat Mai was a Papua New Guinean politician. He was elected to the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea at the 2012 election as Governor of West Sepik Province, lost office on 4 October 2013 when his election was declared void by the National Court of Papua New Guinea, and returned to Parliament when he won a subsequent by-election for his seat in August 2015. He was variously a member of the Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party (2012), Papua New Guinea Party (2012) and National Alliance Party (2012–2021).

Kessy Sawang is a Papua New Guinean politician and former senior civil servant. Until her election and that of Rufina Peter to the National Parliament in August 2022, Papua New Guinea (PNG) had been one of only three countries without a woman in parliament.
