A National Historic Landmark (NHL) is a building, district, object, site, or structure that is officially recognized by the United States government for its outstanding historical significance. Only some 2,500 (~3%) of over 90,000 places listed on the country's National Register of Historic Places are recognized as National Historic Landmarks.

It includes major retail establishments, a shopping mall, a university campus, the headquarters of major corporations and Fortune 500 companies, as well as other retail businesses, hotels, restaurants, offices, entertainment venues and high-rise apartment buildings.
The Central Park West Historic District is located in Manhattan, New York City, United States along historic Central Park West, between 61st and 97th Streets. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 9, 1982. The district encompasses a portion of the Upper West Side-Central Park West Historic District as designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and contains a number of prominent New York City landmarks, including The Dakota Apartments, a National Historic Landmark. The buildings date from the late 19th century to the early 1940s and exhibit a variety of architectural styles. The majority of the district's buildings are of neo-Italian Renaissance style, but Art Deco is a popular theme as well.
St. Cecilia Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York and a historic landmark located at 120 East 106th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, Manhattan, New York City, New York. The parish was established in 1873. It was staffed by the Redemptorist Fathers from 1939 to 2007. The church was designated a New York City landmark in 1976. The church and convent were listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The district includes 93 contributing buildings, two contributing sites, one contributing structure, and one contributing object. It encompasses the village's most intensive concentration of historically and architecturally significant properties. It includes commercial, residential, civic, and ecclesiastical buildings. It includes the village green with bandstand and the adjacent United Presbyterian Church (1831) and St. Peter's Episcopal Church (1826). Other notable buildings include the Bainbridge Town Hall (1909), Old Jericho Tavern, and First United Methodist Church (1902). Located within the district are the house and carriage house of the separately listed Charles C. Hovey House and Strong Leather Company Mill.

South Otselic Historic District is a national historic district located at South Otselic in Chenango County, New York. The district includes 60 contributing buildings. It encompasses the hamlet's historic core and includes commercial, residential, ecclesiastical, and industrial buildings. Among the notable buildings are the Methodist Church, Gladding Corporation factory and office (1895), J. Brown Grist Mill, Noonan's Blacksmith Shop (1870), Cox Block, and Dew Drop Building. Notable residences include the Octagon House and the Queen Anne style Former Gladding Mansion.
The Main–Partition Streets Historic District is located at Saugerties in Ulster County, New York. The district includes 78 contributing buildings. It encompasses the village's central business district. It includes a variety of two and three story, brick commercial buildings, two churches, a U.S. Post Office, three small dwellings, three 19th century brick barns, a 19th-century frame barn, and a variety of outbuildings.
Hamlet of Warrensburgh Historic District is a national historic district located at Warrensburg, Warren County, New York. It includes 351 contributing buildings, three contributing sites, and five contributing structures. It encompasses the historic commercial core on the north side of the Schroon River and historic industrial core on the south side of the river of the hamlet of Warrensburgh. It includes more high styled residences and notable civic and religious properties on the north side and vernacular residences on the south side. Notable commercial buildings include the Woodward Block, Wills Block, bank building at 138 Main Street, and the former Sturdevan's Bakery. Three historic churches within the district are the Church of the Holy Cross (1864), First Methodist Church (1904), and United Presbyterian Church (1840). Civic buildings located within the district are the Richards Library (1900) and Warrensburgh Central School (1942). In addition, the Floyd Bennett Park and Bandstand (1930–31), named for Warrensburg native Floyd Bennett, is within the district.
College Square Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located on a bluff north of downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The district derives it name from two different colleges that were located here in the 19th century.
Charlton Historic District is a 123-acre (50 ha) national historic district located at the hamlet of Charlton, town of Charlton in Saratoga County, New York. The listing included 37 contributing buildings and one other contributing structure. The district dates to 1787 and includes notable Greek Revival and Italianate architecture.
Pound Ridge Historic District is a national historic district located at Pound Ridge, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 46 contributing buildings and encompasses almost all of the hamlet. The majority of the buildings in the district date between 1780 and 1852. The earliest building was built in 1758 and is the Capt. Joseph Lockwood House. Notable buildings include: Methodist Episcopal (Community) Church (1833), Patterson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Lecture Hall, Parker Store (1906), Pound Ridge Village School, Aaron Wood's Mill, Partridge Thatcher House (1788), Maj. Ebenezer Lockwood House, Alsop Hunt Lockwood House (1840), and Solomon Lockwood House.
The Saint Anne Historic District encompasses a collection of institutional buildings associated with the French Canadian Roman Catholic community in Berlin, New Hampshire. The district includes the St. Anne Church, the St. Regis School, and the St. Louis Hospital, all facilities built by the church to support the local French Canadian community. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.
