The Renault Express is a panel van and leisure activity vehicle (LAV) manufactured and marketed by Renault since 2021. Based on the Dacia Dokker, it is sold alongside the Kangoo as a smaller and cheaper alternative.

Overview

History

Presenting the third generation of Renault Kangoo in November 2020, Renault also announced the expansion of its commercial vehicle range with a new, fourth model positioned as a smaller and cheaper alternative to the Kangoo Van. For this purpose, the Express name, which had not been used since 2002, was revived, and the Dacia marque was used since 2012. [1]

Renault has decided to end the production of the Dacia Dokker in its last form, including it in its offer in a thoroughly modernized form. The Express gained a new front apron resembling passenger models of the French company, with a centrally placed company logo and long, slender shaped headlights. [2] A new cockpit design was also used, there was space for storage compartments with a total capacity of 48 liters, and an optional 8-inch Easy Link multimedia system screen [2] was used. Moreover, the vehicle can be equipped with an inductive charger hidden in the armrest, 3 USB sockets, 4 12 V sockets, as well as a rear view camera and a blind spot monitoring system. [3] Other parts of the body have undergone cosmetic changes; they are limited to remodeled rear lamp inserts, keeping the body, proportions, shapes of details and embossing from the Dacia Dokker. [4]

Discontinuation

In July 2024, the Express Van ceased to be marketed in Europe due to the implementation of new safety standards. [5]

The Moroccan automotive industry is led by investment by French Renault-Nissan Alliance and PSA Group car companies. BYD leads the Chinese investment in Morocco. Investment is encouraged by the Moroccan government by removing certain taxes in the first five years in order to encourage the companies to come. Fiat ended its production role in Morocco in 2003 by selling its stake in Somaca to Renault. There is a small local manufacturing industry including Laraki.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Renault Arkana</span> Motor vehicle

The Renault Arkana is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment) with a sloping rear roofline produced by the French manufacturer Renault. The car debuted in May 2019 in Russia as a car based on the older Dacia/Renault Duster B0 platform. Another separate version of the vehicle was introduced in South Korea in February 2020, and is based on a more advanced CMF-B platform. The latter version of the Arkana was later introduced in core European market in September 2020 and was marketed in South Korea as the Renault Samsung XM3 from 2020 to 2022 and then Renault XM3 from 2022 to 2024.
