Tekken X Street Fighter [lower-alpha 1] (pronounced "Tekken Cross Street Fighter") was a planned crossover fighting game that was being developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was supposed to cross the universes of Namco's Tekken and Capcom's Street Fighter into one game, creating a roster from both franchises. The game was announced at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con by Bandai Namco producer Katsuhiro Harada. The gameplay of Tekken X Street Fighter was going to feature the same 3D fighting game engine of the Tekken franchise, as opposed to Street Fighter X Tekken , which features the 2D-style gameplay of Street Fighter IV . Bandai Namco put the game's development on hold in 2016.
Tekken X Street Fighter was announced on 24 July 2010, at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con along with the Capcom-produced Street Fighter X Tekken . The gameplay of Tekken X Street Fighter was going to feature the same 3D fighting game engine of the Tekken franchise as opposed to Street Fighter X Tekken which features the 2D styled gameplay of Street Fighter IV . The game was planned to be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles; however, owing to the discontinuation for both of the consoles, they were soon changed for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One instead. Ryu and Jin Kazama appear on the game's promotional poster (shadowed by their alter-egos "Evil Ryu" and "Devil Jin" respectively). [1] [2] [3] [4] It was still in its early stages of development and no images or videos were released at the 2010 Comic-Con. [5] Katsuhiro Harada did reveal some concepts at Gamescom 2010 such as a prototype model of Ryu, with the gi of Tekken's Paul Phoenix. He said the team has yet to finish the model as details and lighting were not completed. [6]
This is not the first time Namco and Capcom have made a game together as they released a Japan-only crossover game in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 titled Namco × Capcom . However, this game consisted of characters outside of the Street Fighter universe as well as the Tekken universe and instead included various characters from Capcom and ones from Namco (like the Darkstalkers and Soulcalibur series, for example), and at least two characters exclusive to the game. Namco × Capcom was a role playing game, thus making Tekken X Street Fighter and Street Fighter X Tekken the first games in the fighting game genre to be made by Namco and Capcom.
On March 4, 2012, Namco released a poll on the Tekken Facebook page asking fans to vote for who they would like to see on Tekken X Street Fighter's roster. There were 55 Tekken characters and 66 Street Fighter characters to choose from, and fans were able to choose five of their favorites from each series. [7] [8] [9] In March 2012, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada clarified that the poll would not decide the final roster, but will instead be used in conjunction with various research methods to determine the character lineup. [10] In April 2012, Harada stated that the game was about 10% complete. [11] At the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, Harada confirmed that the game was still in development, with the reason for the scarce information being due to Bandai Namco waiting for the opportunity to market it. [12]
In 2015, Harada stated that development had come far along. [13] In December of the same year, Street Fighter's Akuma was announced as a playable guest character in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution , though no statement was made as to whether this was an indicator of the crossover title's status. [14]
In April 2016, Harada stated that development on the game was officially on hold, with the reason being given as to not split the communities behind both franchises. [15] He reiterated this during a 2018 year-end party livestream, while also revealing that the game was about 30% complete. [16]
In May 2019, Harada states that he still wants to release the game, but his “logical and business” sense has him questioning whether he actually should. [17] In December 2019, Harada posted a poll on his Twitter account, asking the community how much they still were waiting for the game. [18]
In June 2021, during a broadcast of his "Harada's Bar Radio" YouTube show, it was believed that Harada confirmed Tekken X Street Fighter had been cancelled. [19] According to Harada, the game was about 30% complete when development was halted in 2016, and some of the animations they had created for the game had been reused for Akuma in Tekken 7. [20]
The game was referenced during EVO 2023, where Yoshinori Ono, who had now parted ways with Capcom, made a surprise appearance on stage with Harada, claiming that they had left some "homework" behind. Before he could complete saying "Tekken X Street Fighter", he would quickly be chased away by Harada.

Akuma, known in Japan as Gouki, is a fictional character from the Street Fighter series of fighting games created by Capcom. Akuma made his debut in Super Street Fighter II Turbo as a secret character and an alternative boss to the villain M. Bison. In the storyline of the Street Fighter video games, he is the younger brother of Gouken, Ryu's and Ken's master. After defeating his brother, Akuma gains interest in several fighters, most notably Ryu as he senses that the protagonist has a similar power to him known as the Satsui no Hadou. In some games, he also has an alternate version named Shin Akuma or Shin Gouki in Japanese and Oni Akuma in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.
Ryu is a fictional character and the protagonist of Capcom's Street Fighter series. Having first appeared in the first Street Fighter in 1987, Ryu appears as the game's lead character alongside his best friend and friendly rival Ken Masters. Other games in the series show Ryu to be highly focused on his training, aiming to become the strongest he can. Unable to control his dark nature, Ryu developed two alter egos: Evil Ryu, and Kage-naru mono or simply Kage.
Julia Chang is a character in the Tekken series by Japanese company Bandai Namco Entertainment. She made her debut as a playable character in Tekken 3 (1997) and is the adopted daughter of Michelle Chang, another character in the Tekken series. Julia's story often revolves around her efforts to save her homeland. In Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (2011), she adopts a different identity known as Jaycee.
Jin Kazama is a character of the Tekken fighting game series created by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Introduced as the protagonist in the 1997 game Tekken 3, he has been the central character of the series from that game onwards. Trained by his grandfather Heihachi Mishima, Jin wishes to avenge the apparent death of his mother Jun Kazama by Ogre. Meanwhile Heihachi betrays Jin to awaken a genetic abnormality within his body known as the Devil Gene.
Heihachi Mishima is a character in Tekken fighting game series created by Bandai Namco Entertainment, serving as one of its main antagonists. Introduced as the boss character from the first Tekken video game from 1994, Heihachi appears as the CEO/leader of a military firm known as the Mishima Zaibatsu founded by his father Jinpachi Mishima. Heihachi was the protagonist of Tekken 2 and one of the two main characters of Tekken 7 along with his son Kazuya Mishima, furthermore Heihachi was a boss character in two additional main installments of the series. He is opposed by many of his relatives who wish for his death out of revenge and to take over the Mishima Zaibatsu. This happens across the series and one of the creators of Tekken Katsuhiro Harada has called it a "family feud". Heihachi wants to defeat his son and grandson, Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama respectively. Heihachi's backstory and motives are revealed in Tekken 7, in which he is killed by Kazuya and thus does not initially appear in Tekken 8. Heihachi returns in 8 as post launch DLC, having been resurrected as part of the series' anniversary. Heihachi has two known illegitimate children who are playable in the series, the first is the hero Lars Alexandersson, who debuted in Tekken 6; and the second is Reina, who was introduced in Tekken 8, uses some of his moves and has a similar personality, and is later revealed to be also a Devil Gene user as both Kazuya and Jin.
Kazuya Mishima is a character in Bandai Namco's Tekken fighting game series, who first featured as the protagonist in the original 1994 game and later became one of the main villains of the series since becoming the penultimate antagonist of Tekken 2. He later returns as the main co-protagonist of Tekken 7, before assuming his role as the main antagonist again in Tekken 8. The son of worldwide conglomerate Mishima Zaibatsu CEO Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya seeks revenge against his father for throwing him off a cliff years earlier. Kazuya becomes corrupted in later games, seeking to obtain more power and later eventually comes into conflict with his son Jin Kazama. Kazuya Mishima possesses the Devil Gene, a demonic mutation, which he inherited from his late mother, Kazumi Mishima, which can transform him into a demonic version of himself known as Devil Kazuya. Devil Kazuya has often appeared as a separate character in previous installments prior to becoming part of Kazuya's moveset in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and later games. Kazuya Mishima is also present in related series media and other games.
Tekken 6 is a fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco Games. It is the sixth main and seventh overall installment in the Tekken franchise. It was released in arcades on November 26, 2007, as the first game running on the PlayStation 3-based System 357 arcade board. A year later, the game received an update, subtitled Bloodline Rebellion. Both versions also saw a limited release in North America. A home version based on the update was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 27, 2009. This was the first time a main installment was produced for another console. It was ported for the PlayStation Portable on November 24, 2009. The game was produced by Katsuhiro Harada, who aimed to give the fights a strategic style while remaining faithful to the previous games in the series. This was the first Tekken game with Harada as producer. He replaced the longtime producer Hajime Nakatani from the first game, where Harada started out as the voice actor for Marshall Law and Yoshimitsu, and a part of the original development team.
Namco × Capcom is a tactical role-playing (RPG) crossover video game developed by Monolith Soft for the PlayStation 2 and published by Namco in 2005. The gameplay combines tactical RPG and action sequences during battles, featuring characters from video game series owned by Namco and Capcom. The narrative sees original characters Reiji Arisu and Xiaomu, operatives for paranormal investigative group Shinra, confront distortions bringing characters from other realities into their own.
King is a title used by two characters in the Tekken fighting game series created by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The characters were inspired by Japanese pro wrestler Satoru Sayama, as well as Mexican wrestler Fray Tormenta, a Catholic priest who became a luchador in order to support an orphanage. The character, King, has been present in all the main Tekken installments to date, with King I present in Tekken and Tekken 2, and King II debuting in Tekken 3 and returning for the following main games since.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a crossover fighting game developed and published by Capcom and released in March 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in May for Windows and in October for the PlayStation Vita. The game features characters from both the Street Fighter franchise and Namco's Tekken series. In the game, each player selects two characters respectively and face other as duos in tag team fighting matches, with the objective to knock out one of the members from the opposing team. In addition to the game's multiplayer modes, the game also features a single-player Story mode with a plot revolving around a mysterious object called the "Pandora".
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is the eighth installment in the Tekken fighting game series and the sequel to Tekken Tag Tournament. It was released for the arcades in September 2011. It received an update, subtitled Unlimited, in March 2012. A console version based on the update was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2012, prior to the update. It was ported to the Wii U as one of the system's launch titles in November 2012, subtitled Wii U Edition.
Tekken: Blood Vengeance is a 2011 Japanese animated science fiction martial arts film directed by Yōichi Mōri from a screenplay by Dai Satō, based on the video game series Tekken published by Namco Bandai Games. The film places focus on the young martial artist Ling Xiaoyu, who investigates experiments involving a supernatural curse related with the Mishima family, while befriending a robot named Alisa Bosconovitch. The two meet the test subject Shin Kamiya, who is being sought by his former friend Jin Kazama and his father Kazuya Mishima, but is also being used by Heihachi Mishima to set a new family fight.
Project X Zone is a crossover tactical role-playing video game for the Nintendo 3DS developed by Monolith Soft with assistance from Capcom and Red Entertainment and published by Namco Bandai Games. It is a follow-up to Namco × Capcom and features characters from Namco Bandai, Capcom, and Sega. The game was released on October 11, 2012 in Japan; June 25, 2013 in North America; and July 5, 2013 in Europe. Project X Zone received mixed to positive reviews upon release; praise went towards the game's cast, combat system, and presentation, but criticism was directed at its repetitive gameplay and confusing storyline.

Tekken 7 is a fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the seventh main and ninth overall installment in the Tekken series, and is the first in that series to be released for PC. Tekken 7 was released to arcades in March 2015. An updated arcade version, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, was released in July 2016, and features expanded content including new stages, costumes, items and characters. The home versions released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in June 2017 were based on Fated Retribution.
Tekken 8 is a fighting video game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game was released for the PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on January 26, 2024. It is the eighth canon release and tenth overall entry in the Tekken series. The base game's story mode, titled The Dark Awakens, takes place six months after the events of its predecessor and focuses on the final confrontation between protagonist Jin Kazama and his father Kazuya Mishima. Meanwhile, an additional story mode focuses on Lidia Sobieska, Eddy Gordo, and Yoshimitsu on uncovering Mishima Clan's ancient history, as well as the resurrection of Heihachi Mishima himself.
