Hormozgan Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the south of the country, in Iran's Region 2, facing Oman, UAE and the Hormuz Straits. Its area is 70,697 km2 (27,296 sq mi), and its provincial capital is Bandar Abbas. The province has fourteen islands in the Persian Gulf and 1,000 km (620 mi) of coastline.

Bandar Abbas International Airport is an international airport located in 12 kilometers east of the city of Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, in southern Iran. The airport has flight connections to different parts of Iran and countries of south of Persian Gulf, and about 1,289,000 passengers passed through it in 2017. This airport is able to handle widebody aircraft such as Boeing 777 or Boeing 747.

Jask is a city and capital of Jask County, Hormozgan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 11,133, in 2,406 families.

Fin is a city and capital of the Fin District of Bandar Abbas County, Hormozgan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 3,532, in 860 families.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ahmad Eghtedari</span> Iranian educator, scholar, and lawyer

Ahmad Eghtedari was an Iranian teacher, lawyer, writer, historian and geographer who was regarded as a prominent scholar in Persian Gulf studies. Historically, he was a descendant of Gerashi thanes. In his youth, he traveled on foot along the coasts of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea and began mapping and documenting their topography.

The 2021 Hormozgan earthquakes was a doublet earthquake event in Iran that occurred on November 14, 2021 with magnitudes of 6.0 and 6.4 on the moment magnitude scale. The two quakes occurred just a minute and a half apart, killing 2 people and injuring a further 100.

Nima Rahizadeh is a professional Iranian basketball player. He last played for the Foolad Hormozgan club of the Iranian Basketball Super League. He also played for the Iranian national basketball team, as a Shooting guard.

The 2022 Hormozgan earthquakes were a pair of doublet earthquakes that struck southern Iran on 1 July, 2022. The earthquakes, which occurred around two hours apart, killed seven people and injured dozens more.
