Little Falls is a city in Herkimer County, New York, United States. The population was 4,946 at the time of the 2010 census, which is the second-smallest city population in the state, ahead of only the city of Sherrill. The city is built on both sides of the Mohawk River, at a point at which rapids had impeded travel upriver. Transportation through the valley was improved by construction of the Erie Canal, completed in 1825 and connecting the Great Lakes with the Hudson River.

The two story building is constructed of white Vermont marble on a granite base in a French Neoclassical style with Beaux-Arts details.

It was designed and built in 1932-1934 and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, James A. Wetmore. It is irregular in plan, with a U-shaped, two-story main block with a one-story interior section, and a one-story rear wing with a mailing platform. The facades are clad in buff-colored brick and limestone and executed in the Classical Revival style with Art Deco decorative detailing.

James Sanders House is a historic home located at Little Falls in Herkimer County, New York. The house is a two-story, gable-roofed brick residence, five bays long and two bays wide, originally constructed in 1827. It consists of a rectangular main block with a two-story brick rear wing. It features a center hall plan and Federal-style decorative elements. Also on the property are a frame, gable-roofed carriage barn and garage/agricultural equipment barn. James Sanders was a local building contractor who also built a number of mills, residences, and civic buildings including the original Little Falls Academy.

It was designed and built 1935–1936, and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department under Louis A. Simon. The building is in the Colonial Revival style and is a 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, steel-frame building clad in red brick. The interior features a 1937 mural series by George Picken that includes "Scenes and Activities of the Hudson," "Transportation," and "Mail by Airplane."
Hudson Falls Historic District is a national historic district located at Hudson Falls in Washington County, New York. It includes 148 contributing buildings, one contributing site, and two contributing objects. It encompasses the historic center of the village including residential, commercial, civic, and ecclesiastical buildings, centered on the village park. The buildings were built between 1812 and 1935, the majority between 1875 and 1900, and reflect a variety of 19th and early-20th-century architectural styles. Located within the district is the former Washington County Courthouse (1873) and the separately listed US Post Office-Hudson Falls. One of the oldest structures is a law office building constructed about 1810 and located at 177 Main Street. It is notable as having been the office for Henry C. Martindale (1780-1860) and his clerk, New York Governor Silas Wright (1795-1847).
