The Democratic Action Party is a centre-left social democratic political party in Malaysia. As one of four component parties of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, it formed the federal government after defeating Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 2018 Malaysian general election, ending the party's 53 year-long stay in the opposition. However, before the coalition finished its first term, defections from partnering parties caused it to lose power after 22 months, culminating in the 2020 Malaysian political crisis. At the 2022 Malaysian general election, the PH coalition which the DAP was part of was returned to power again, albeit without a majority, leading it to form a unity government with political rivals. It is one of the four component parties of the Pakatan Harapan ruling coalition in Malaysia.
The People's Justice Party, is a reformist political party in Malaysia formed on 3 August 2003 through a merger of the party's predecessor, the National Justice Party, with the socialist Malaysian People's Party. The party's predecessor was founded by Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during the height of the Reformasi movement on 4 April 1999 after the arrest of her husband, former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy s/o Palanisamy is a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Penang II and Member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administrations under Chief Ministers Lim Guan Eng and Chow Kon Yeow and Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly for Perai (MLA) from March 2008 to August 2023. He served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Batu Kawan from March 2008 to May 2013. For most of his political career, he was a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the PH and formerly PR coalitions. His vocal opinions on Zakir Naik, support for the Hindu Nationalism policies in India under Narendra Modi regime and reforms of the civil service in Malaysia due to its Malay dominance have been controversial.
Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa, is a Malay supremacist non-governmental organisation (NGO) that was formed by Ibrahim Ali in the aftermath of the 2008 general election (GE12). This conservative, extreme-right, ethnic Malay organisation is led by its president Ibrahim Ali to influence the unity of Malaysian by refusing to accept any decoration of other ethnic group except Malay decoration. Steven Sim Chee Keong is a Malaysian politician who is serving as the Minister of Human Resources in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since December 2023 as well as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bukit Mertajam since May 2013. He served as the Deputy Minister of Finance II in the PH administration under Prime Minister and Minister Anwar from December 2022 to December 2023 and the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports in the PH administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Syed Saddiq from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the PH coalition. He has also served as the National Organising Secretary of DAP since March 2022 and State Chairman of DAP of Penang since September 2024. He is presently one of the youngest Cabinet minister in the Anwar Ibrahim cabinet, at the age of 42, alongside Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, the incumbent Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia.

He is the eldest son of Karpal Singh, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Jelutong who gained fame and rose to prominence as the 'Tiger of Jelutong'. He is also the older brother of Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital and MP for Damansara as well as Ramkarpal Singh, MP for Bukit Gelugor.
The Minority Rights Action Party or Malay: Parti Tindakan Hak Minoriti, abbreviated MIRA, is a political party in Malaysia. The party was an active party and was formed in 2017 by a group of human rights activist led by Kannan Ramasamy and educationist Late Francis Rhajahh. It was approved registration by the Registrar of Society in November 2018. MIRA Party was co-founded by Kannan Ramasamy and Late Francis Rhajahh. The party's aims is to be voice of minority in Malaysia and to establish policy for minorities along the UN Declaration on Minorities Right 1992.

The 14th Penang election was held on 9 May 2018 to elect the State Assemblymen of the 14th Penang State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Penang.
