Anthony James Leon is a South African politician who served as leader of the opposition from 1999-2007 as leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA). He led the DA from its inception in 2000,until his retirement from leadership in 2007. Before that,he led the Democratic Party from 1994. He is the longest-serving leader of the official opposition in parliament since the advent of democracy in 1994. Although still a member of the DA,he served as the South African Ambassador to Argentina,Uruguay and Paraguay under the African National Congress government from 2009 to 2012.
Mamphela Aletta Ramphele is a South African politician,anti-apartheid activist,medical doctor and businesswoman. She was a partner of anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko,with whom she had two children. She is a former vice-chancellor at the University of Cape Town and a former managing director at the World Bank. Ramphele founded the political party Agang South Africa in February 2013 but withdrew from politics in July 2014. Since 2018,she has been the co-president of the Club of Rome.
Valli Moosa is a veteran of the South African freedom struggle. Valli served as a facilitator in the global climate change negotiations for a number of years. He previously served as President of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN),as Chairman of the UN Commission on Sustainable Developmentand as Deputy Chairperson of South Africa's Presidential Climate Commission.

He served as Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation in the cabinet of Jacob Zuma. From 2009 to 2014,he was a Member of the National Assembly. Fransman served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 1999 to 2009,and again from 2014 to 2016.
Cameron Muir Dugmore is a South African politician who was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in the 2024 general election as a member of the African National Congress. Prior to his election,he was the Leader of the Opposition in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2019 until 2024. Dugmore served in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 1994 until 2009 and again from 2014 until 2024. He served as the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport from 2008 to 2009,and as the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Education from 2004 to 2008.
The Shadow Cabinet of Mmusi Maimane was formed on 5 June 2014 in South Africa following his election as Parliamentary Leader of the Democratic Alliance and Leader of the Opposition on 29 May 2014. The Democratic Alliance parliamentary caucus also elected other caucus leadership. John Steenhuisen was elected Chief Whip with Anchen Dreyer as Caucus Chairperson. These elections all occurred following the 2014 general elections,in which the Democratic Alliance retained its post as the Official Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa.
Thomas Charles Ravenscroft Walters is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance (DA) who has been serving as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since May 2024. Previously,he served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014 and then as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2014 until 2024. In 2012,Walters was elected Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance,and has been deputising Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille since 2019. He deputised James Selfe from 2012 to 2019. Walters was the party's Shadow Minister and Shadow Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.

He is the founder and current leader of Al Jama-ah,a party for upholding Muslim interests in South Africa. Hendricks was previously a City of Cape Town municipal councillor. Since 3 July 2024,he serves as Deputy Minister of Social Development of South Africa.
