Annette Lovemore is a South African politician for the Democratic Alliance (DA),and the mayoral committee member (MMC) of infrastructure and engineering in the Nelson Mandela Bay coalition government that took office in 2016. [1] She previously served as a DA Member of Parliament [2] between 2009 and 2016.
Annette Lovemore was born on 20 December 1958. She graduated from Kimberly Girls' High School in 1975 and went on to receive her BSc at University of Cape Town in 1978. [3]
Lovemore served as a councillor in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality before being elected to Parliament in 2009. As the DA's Shadow Minister of Home Affairs,she has continuously brought to light the inadequacies of handling of the refugee applicants within South Africa, [4] laws that could hurt the prospects of foreign investments into the country, [5] and the Department of Home Affairs seemingly nonchalant handling of ID,grant and pension fraud happening from foreigners illegally in South Africa. [6] She later served as Shadow Minister of Basic Education.
After the opposition victory in Nelson Mandela Bay in 2016,Lovemore left parliament to become a member of the mayoral committee,where she'll be focusing on Infrastructure and Engineering.
Winnie Madikizela-Mandela,also known as Winnie Mandela,was a South African anti-apartheid activist and politician,and the second wife of Nelson Mandela. She served as a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 2003,and from 2009 until her death,and was a deputy minister of arts and culture from 1994 to 1996. Andile Lungisa is a South African politician and the former deputy president of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL). Lungisa is also the former chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) of South Africa as well as the former President of the Pan-African Youth Union (PYU) and councillor of the ANC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality in Port Elizabeth. Graham has been the party's shadow minister of public works and infrastructure since December 2020. Graham served as the shadow deputy minister of public works and infrastructure from 2019 to 2020. The Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality council consists of one hundred and twenty members elected by mixed-member proportional representation. Sixty councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in sixty wards,while the remaining sixty are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received.
