The total population count of Canada was 24,343,181. This was a 5.9% increase over the 1976 census of 22,992,604. [1]

Benchlands is a hamlet in Alberta within the Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8. The Ghost River is located on the hamlet's south side, while Highway 40 borders the north side.

Saddle River, a tributary of Peace River, flows immediately north of the community. The origin of the name Wanham could have come from Wanham in England.
