Background

Incumbent Mayor Roderick "Erick" De Guzman Tiongson, running under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, is seeking a fifth consecutive term as Municipal Mayor. Tiongson, a veteran in local politics, is aiming to extend his leadership in the municipality as the 2025 elections approach.

Challenging him once again is current Vice Mayor John "Bong" Alvarez, the mayoral candidate of Lakas-CMD. With Alvarez now term-limited as vice mayor, he sets his sights on the town’s top post. This will be the second time Tiongson and Alvarez go head-to-head for the mayoralty, following their first electoral battle in 2013, [3] which ended in Tiongson’s favor.

Also joining the race is Kuya Jiboy Cabochan of Aksyon Demokratiko, who is making his sixth attempt at winning the mayoral seat. Despite his persistent efforts in previous elections, Cabochan has yet to secure a victory.

Rounding out the list of candidates are Antonio Ligon of the National Unity Party and independent hopeful Brod Domingo. Both are seeking to earn the trust of the electorate and bring fresh leadership to the municipality.
