Ahmed Hachani (born 4 October 1956) [1] is a Tunisian politician. Since 1 August 2023,he is serving as the Prime Minister of Tunisia.
Hachani graduated from the faculty of law of Tunis University. He was then employed at the Central Bank of Tunisia. [2]
On 1 August 2023, Hachani was appointed by President Kais Saied to form the country's new government. He replaced Najla Bouden who was dismissed that day. [3] [4]
The prime minister of Tunisia is the head of the executive branch of the government of Tunisia. The prime minister directs the executive branch along with the president and, together with the prime minister's cabinet, is accountable to the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, to the prime minister's political party and, ultimately, to the electorate for the policies and actions of the executive and the legislature.
The Free Destourian Party, until August 2016 known as the Destourian Movement, is a Tunisian political party founded by former members of Tunisia's pre-revolution ruling party, the Constitutional Democratic Rally. In the 2014 presidential election, the Destourian Movement presented Abderrahim Zouari, Minister of Transport from 2004 to 2011, as candidate. The party is now lead by the lawyer and MP Abir Moussi. Since early 2020, the party is leading in all opinion polls for the next Tunisian general elections, and its leader Abir Moussi is always second just after incumbent president Kais Saied. On October 3, 2023, the president of the PDL, Abir Moussi, was arrested in a series of political arrests and crackdown on the opposition launched by president Kais Saied.
Kais Saied is a Tunisian politician, jurist and retired law professor currently serving as the seventh President of Tunisia since October 2019. He was president of the Tunisian Association of Constitutional Law from 1995 to 2019.

She took office on 11 October 2021, making her the first female prime minister both in Tunisia and the Arab world. She previously served in the education ministry in 2011.
