Barto Township was named for an immigrant settler from Bohemia. [3]

As of the census [1] of 2000, there were 142 people, 51 households, and 44 families residing in the township. The population density was 3.9 people per square mile (1.5/km2). There were 53 housing units at an average density of 1.4/sq mi (0.6/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 100.00% White.
