The Biak Karon people, also abbreviated as Bikar, is one of the sub-groups of the Biak people who inhabit the districts of Sausapor and Bikar in Tambrauw Regency, Southwest Papua, Indonesia. Before migration, the Biak Karon people originated from Biak Numfor Regency. Their migration is always associated with folktales about manamakeri. [2]
In addition, according to the chairman of the Ketua Dewan Adat Suku Byak di Tambrauw (Byak People Traditional Council in Tambrauw) in 2023, Junus Rumansara explained the presence of six clans (keret) in the traditional land of the Abun (Karon Pantai) people because of the Hongi War, economic problems related to the long drought in Biak (Byak) at that time, so they sought a life outside. In Tambrauw Regency there are six Biak Karon clans (keret), namely Mar, Mayor, Paraibabo, Mambrasar, Mirino, and Yappen. Then they interbred with the local Abun (Karon Pantai) people, so they are now known as the Biak Karon people. [3]
