College of Art, New Delhi, established in 1942 under the arts department of the Delhi College of Engineering now the Delhi Technological University (DTU), is an art college for advanced training in Visual Art. It is run by the Government of NCT Delhi. It is situated on Tilak Marg, New Delhi. affiliated to University of Delhi since 1972 [1] [2] [3]
The college offers courses both at graduate and post-graduate levels; It offers courses in most mediums of Visual Art, both Creative and Applied Art. This includes Master of Fine Art (MFA, a post graduation course of two year in duration) in Applied Art, Printmaking, Sculpture, Visual Communication and Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA, an undergraduate course with 4 years duration) in Applied Art, Art History, Printmaking, Sculpture, Visual Communication. It imparts training in art techniques with emphasis on studio practicals, outdoor practicals, prescribed theory subjects and research in selected fields.
Art Education stalwarts such as Ramendranath Chakravarty, B.C.Sanyal, Biswanath Mukherjee, O.P.Sharma, have since its inception, headed and nurtured this institution. The present Faculty also includes from such members, Prof. B.S.Chauhan (Principal), Prof. Meera Sarvanan, Prof. Jyotika Sehgal, Dr. Amargeet Chandok, Sh. Ashok Ninawe, Sh. Kripal Singh, Sh. R.K. Mahajan, Sh. Ch. Omkarachari, Sh. Kandagiri Ramesh, Dr. Sumita Kathuria, Dr. Kumar Jigeeshu. The Annual Art Exhibition of the college, put by students is held every year during the month of March, which is the only time students are allowed to stay back over night inside the college premises. In 2008, the college added an auditorium, designed by architect as-well-as an artist Satish Gujral to its campus. [6]

Akbar Padamsee was an Indian artist and painter, considered one of the pioneers in modern Indian painting along with S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza and M.F. Husain. Over the years he also worked with various mediums from oil painting, plastic emulsion, water colour, sculpture, printmaking, to computer graphics, and photography. In addition, he worked as a film maker, sculptor, photographer, engraver, and lithographer. Today his paintings are among the most valued by modern Indian artists. His painting Reclining Nude was sold for US$1,426,500 at Sotheby's in New York on 25 March 2011.
Sahitya Kala Parishad is the Cultural wing of the Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT) of Delhi for music, dance, drama & fine arts, established in 1968, under the 'Department Of Art, Culture And Language'. It was registered under the Society's Registration Act, 1860 on 31 July 1975.
Jyotindra Manshankar Bhatt, better known as Jyoti Bhatt, is an Indian artist best known for his modernist work in painting and printmaking and also his photographic documentation of rural Indian culture. He studied painting under N. S. Bendre and K.G. Subramanyan at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University (M.S.U.), Baroda. Later he studied fresco and mural painting at Banasthali Vidyapith in Rajasthan, and in the early 1960s went on to study at the Academia di Belle Arti in Naples, Italy, as well the Pratt Institute in New York. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019 and elected as a Fellow of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 2022.
Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur is located in the heart of the city of Thrissur in Kerala state of India. More than hundred years of existence has given a unique character to this institution in the history of art institutions in India. As a graduate level art college, this institution initiate young minds to work with the world of Art and Design and make a life in their own terms. As a Technical Commercial Industrial School, it was in 1910 that this institution started functioning. At that time, art education was basically an industrial training in order to produce skilled craftsmen and related vocational labors. During the second world war, the institution was renamed as ‘Government Trade School’. From 1943 to 1975, it was known as Government Occupational Institute. The fundamental shift from a vocational labor towards a more aesthetic ‘Fine Arts’ orientation occurred when it was upgraded as Govt.Institute of Fine Arts, in the year 1975. This was also about a raise and shift in the status of ‘artist’ in the modern sense of the term. In 1988 the title called National Diploma offered by this institute for its five year courses, gave training in Painting, Sculpture and Applied Art. In 2000, the status of this institute was raised as it got affiliated with the University of Calicut and started offering four year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in three specialisations: Painting, Sculpture and Applied Arts. In the year 2019, a new course in Art History and Visual Studies has also started.
Bhabesh Chandra Sanyal commonly known as B. C. Sanyal, the doyen of modernism in Indian art, was an Indian painter and sculptor and an art teacher to three generations of artists. During his lifetime he not just saw the partition of the Indian subcontinent three times, 1905, 1947 and 1971, but also witnessed 20th century Indian art in all its phases. His notable paintings include The flying scarecrow, Cow herd, Despair and Way to peace, which depicts Mahatma Gandhi with a Hindu and a Muslim child.
V. Anamika is a Contemporary Artist born in Neelankarai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a student of S. Dhanapal, an eminent artist of India. She received her master's degree in Fine Arts in 1999 from Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai. She undertook a course on Care of museum objects at Government Museum in 2005. In 2006, she went to Scotland as a visiting artist scholar to learn Japanese wood-block printing at Edinburgh printmaker's studio.
Byomakesh Mohanty was an Indian artist and academic. After completing his science studies and graduating from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, he joined as a faculty of visual arts at Banaras Hindu University.
Shekhar Gurera, also known as Chander Shekhar Gurera, is an Indian editorial cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic designer. He publishes regular cartoons with comments about India's political and social trends. His daily pocket cartoons appear in several English, Hindi, and regional language daily newspapers Punjab Kesari, Hind Samachar, Jag Bani, Nava Bharat, Central ChronicleThe Pioneer, Sanmarg and Navodaya Times among others. He started his cartoon career in 1984 as a freelancer.
Amba Sanyal is an Indian theater artist and costume designer. She is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2008 for Costume design.
Rajendra Tiku, is an Indian sculptor and art teacher known for his outdoor stone sculptures. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2013, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field of art.
Ranbir Singh Bisht (1928–1998) was an Indian painter and the Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Lucknow University. Born in 1928 at Landsdowne in Garhwal, in the present day Indian state of Uttarakhand, he secured Drawing Teacher's Training Certificate and Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Lucknow. He conducted many solo shows in a number of Indian cities besides a show in New York and participated in group shows in Frankfurt and Tokyo. He was also a participant of the 4th Triennale at New Delhi in 1972.
N. Gopi is an eminent Indian poet, and literary critic in Telugu and Sahitya Akademi Award recipient. He has also been in the University system as a professor and Dean since 1974, until retiring in 2008. He has also held the post of the Vice Chancellor of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. Gopi's poetry displays nativity and a national outlook.

Arpana Caur is an Indian contemporary painter and graphic artist. Arpana Caur exhibits dynamism and deep insight in her depictions of women's conditions in modern India. A self-taught artist, Caur's portrayals of women in urban environments reflect her concerns with the issues of our time: life and death, violence, the environment, and women's issues. Clothing is a recurring theme in her work, both reinforcing and undermining the established image of women.
