Elections in Jharkhand are being conducted since the formation of the state in 2000, to elect the members of Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha and to the members of the lower house of the Indian parliament, the Lok Sabha. There are 81 Vidhan Sabha constituencies and 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. [1]
The Bharatiya Janata Party and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha have been the most dominant parties in the state since its formation. Other major parties include Indian National Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, Janata Dal (United) and All Jharkhand Students Union.
Until the year 2000, Jharkhand was a part of undivided Bihar state.

Shibu Soren is an Indian politician who is currently member of Rajya Sabha representing Jharkhand and the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He formerly served as 3rd Chief Minister of Jharkhand, first in 2005 for 10 days, then from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2009 to 2010. He is also the President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party, a constituent of the INDIA Alliance. He was the member of Lok Sabha from Dumka from 1980 to 1984, 1989 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2019 and Minister for Coal in the Union Cabinet from 2004 to 2004, 2004 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2006, when a Delhi district court found him guilty in the murder of his private secretary Shashi Nath Jha in 1994. He has also been indicted in the past on other criminal charges.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is a political party in the Indian state of Jharkhand which was founded by Binod Bihari Mahato. Shibu Soren is the president of the JMM. JMM is also an influential political party in the state of Odisha and parts of neighbouring of states. Its election symbol for Jharkhand is Bow and Arrow.
Arjun Munda is an Indian politician. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, a former Chief Minister of the Indian state of Jharkhand and the former Minister of Tribal Affairs and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare in the Second Modi ministry. He has also served as a member of parliament, having been elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Jamshedpur constituency in the 2009 parliamentary elections. The BJP has appointed him as one of the general secretary of the party.

Kariya Munda is an Indian politician who served as Deputy Speaker of the 15th Lok Sabha. He has been a minister in the Government of India, serving in the governments led by the Janata Party in 1977 and by Bhartiya Janata Party from 1999 onwards.
Madhu Koda is an Indian politician who had served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2006 to 2008. He was sworn in as the fifth Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 18 September 2006, and remained in office until he resigned on 27 August 2008.
Chandra Shekhar Dubey also known as Dadai Dubey was a Cabinet minister in Jharkhand government. He was an elected MLA of Bishrampur. Dadai Dubey is a member of the Indian National Congress political party. Chandrashekhar Dubey was also member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Dhanbad constituency of Jharkhand. Chandrashekhar Dubey was made the state rural development minister in Jharkhand in Hemant Soren government in August 2013. Dubey was also the general secretary of Rashtiya Koyla Mazdoor Sangh affiliated to INTUC. Chandrashekhar Dubey was also a senate member of Nilamber Pitamber University, nominated by Hon'ble Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. In July 2015, Dadai Dubey was arrested for misbehaving with the police and was sent to judicial custody.
Babulal Marandi is an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its Jharkhand unit president. He was the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand and formerly Leader of the Legislature Party of BJP in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He was also the founder and national President of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), which he later merged with BJP. He was the Member of Parliament in 12th, 13th 14th and 15th Lok Sabha from Jharkhand. He was the Union State Minister (MoS) for Forests & Environment of India in the BJP – led National Democratic Alliance Government in 1998 to 2000. He was appointed as Jharkhand BJP president on 4 July 2023.

He represents Barhait constituency in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly since 2014 and has represented Dumka twice — from 2019 to 2020, and from 2009 to 2014. He was also the Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2010 to 2013, Leader of the Opposition, Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019 and member of Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand, from 2009 to 2010.
Raghubar Das is an Indian politician who has served as the 26th governor of Odisha since 2023. Das has previously served as the sixth chief minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019. He belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party and has twice served as the president of Jharkhand BJP.
Durga Soren (1970–2009) was a leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and a member of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He was the son of JMM chief Shibu Soren and the husband of Sita Soren, who was a Member of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from Jama constituency. He was also the elder brother of Hemant Soren, the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Joba Majhi is an Indian politician from Jharkhand. She is a 5-time MLA and was the Minister of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development and Tourism from 2019 to 2024 in the Hemant Soren government. She won the 2024 Indian general election in Jharkhand from Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituency.
The 2005 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases from 3 to 23 February 2005 to elect the 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. It was the first election held in Jharkhand to elect the Second Jharkhand Legislative Assembly; the First/Interim Jharkhand Legislative Assembly was constituted based on the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Jharkhand was created by carving out the southern districts of Bihar on 15 November 2000. The election resulted in a hung assembly like the first one. No single party or pre-election alliance got the majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party become the biggest party by winning 30 seats. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha got 17 seats and the Indian National Congress got nine seats.
Mahagathbandhan, is a coalition of political parties in the Eastern state of Jharkhand in India. It is the major political alliance in Jharkhand. The alliance consists of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Indian National Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation. Most of the MGB constituents are members of the Indian National Congress-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance at pan-India level.
Champai Soren is an Indian politician who served as the 7th Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2 February 2024 to 3 July 2024 after the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on allegations of money laundering. Earlier and later, he served as cabinet minister under Hemant Soren.
The 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases from 13 to 20 November 2024 to elect all 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes was done on 24 November 2024. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 34 seats, securing 23.44% of the popular vote and Mahagathbandhan won 56 seats, securing 44.37% of the popular vote.
Lobin Hembrom is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Hembrom was a three time member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from the Borio constituency in Sahibganj district in 2000–2004, 2009–2013, and 2019–2023 on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket.
