Houk Manufacturing Company, also known as Houk Wire Wheel Corporation, is a historic factory complex located at Buffalo in Erie County, New York. It consists of one- and two-story, brick factory buildings in a complex built in stages between 1910 and 1930. The original L-shaped complex built in 1910 consists of the two-story office building with an Ionic order portico, one-story machine shop, one-story warehouse, and one-story forge shop. [2] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. [1]
2013 The building was purchased by developer Rocco Termini under his company Signature Development for approximately $300,000.00 USD.
During renovations the building was designed for 22 residential units and 2 commercial units. There are 11 residential units on each floor and commercial spaces exist on the first floor on the south east corner.
A black and white wheat paste mural was added to a cylinder block wall for marketing. The mural was a nod to the art deco era when Houk Manufacturing was at its prime.
2015
By 2015 the mural was almost completely gone from deterioration due to weather and has not been replaced to date (2021).
2016
Extensive and ongoing internal leaks around the new windows were reported. It appears that red siding was added to the top of entire second floor above the windows as a way to stop the water, although it has not been returned to the historic brick that was important to maintain the integrity of the historical brick.
It appears concrete was used for repointing during the restoration which has led to deterioration of brick material.
2021
In 2021 a large painted mural was added onto the exterior historic brick outside of the commercial spaces, which also diminished the historical integrity if the brick.

After several years of restoration work the Pierce Arrow building which was the beneficiary of Houk Wire Wheels was developed into the Pierce Arrow Lofts. During planning, about 100 residential units were in the works. (needs confirmation).
2022
McGuire Group Development purchased the building across from Houk Lofts for approximately $785,000.00 USD after Buerk Tool closed abruptly in 2019.
According to local news sources, the building will be turned into 33 market rate residential units and no commercial units. The modern name of the building will be the Vintage Flats according to a construction sign around the site.
The White Building, also known as the Heberling Building, is located in the city of Bloomington, Illinois, United States. Located along Bloomington's East Douglas Street, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in June 1994 and represents one of the better examples of Commercial style architecture still extant in the city. It was built by Bloomington resident Samuel R. White in 1894–1895 to house his furniture sales company. By 1903 the Heberling Brothers pharmacy and their associated businesses occupied most of the building and the White company had moved its facilities to a nearby location. The White Building is a five-story red brick building which is elaborately windowed and has a three-story connected extension to its west which probably predates it.
The Metal Office Furniture Company (Steelcase) Plants No. 2 and 3 are historic manufacturing plants located at 401 Hall Street SW in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Jerome H. Remick and Company Building is an early 20th-century office building located at 1250 Library Street in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It later became an annex of the J. L. Hudson Company, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
The Ashworth and Jones Factory is a historic building at 1511 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is one of the architecturally finest mid 19th century factory buildings in the city. Built in 1870 and repeatedly enlarged, most of its sections retain high quality brickwork and mid-19th century Victorian styling. The factory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The complex has been converted into condominium residences known as Kettle Brook Lofts.
Trico Plant No. 1 is a historic windshield wiper factory building located in Buffalo, New York. It is an example of a style of architecture sometimes referred to as the daylight factory, a style for which Buffalo is well known. The building was mostly constructed in the 1920s and 1930s of reinforced concrete and features curtain walls of metal sash windows and brick spandrels, although a portion of the plant incorporates an historic brewery building from the 1890s. It was the original home of Trico Products Corporation, the first manufacturer of windshield wipers, and was an important factory during a period when Trico was the largest employer in the city of Buffalo. The building is also known for once being the office of John R. Oishei (1886–1968), the company's founder and an industrialist who went on to become one of the most important philanthropists in the Buffalo Niagara Region.
The Weis Manufacturing Company, currently known as WoodCraft Square, is a former factory located at 800 West 7th Street in the city of Monroe in Monroe County, Michigan. It was listed as a Michigan Historic Site and added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 26, 1981.
The Crescent Warehouse Historic District is a 10.5-acre (4.2 ha) historic district in Downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. The district is a collection of multi-story brick structures that formerly housed warehouses and factories. Most of the buildings have been converted into loft apartments. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
The former Brandreth Pill Factory is a historic industrial complex located on Water Street in Ossining, New York, United States. It consists of several brick buildings from the 19th century, in a variety of contemporary architectural styles. In 1980 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The J.J. Deal and Son Carriage Factory was the largest factory built in Jonesville, Michigan. It is the only 19th century factory remaining in the City. It is located at 117 West Street. On August 1, 2012, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The building was redeveloped into the Heritage Lane Apartments in 2015.

Brown Shoe Company's Homes-Take Factory, also known as the International Hat Company Warehouse, is a historic building location at 1201 Russell Boulevard in the Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Built in 1904, by renowned architect Albert B. Groves, the building was originally a factory for the Brown Shoe Company, based in St. Louis. In 1954, the factory was subsequently converted into a warehouse by the International Hat Company. The site has been recognized as a testament to Grove's architectural expertise in the principles of factory design, namely technical advances in layout planning, operational efficiency, and employee safety. Additionally, the factory epitomizes the early 20th century cultural transformation and socio-industrial development of St. Louis into a manufacturing powerhouse. In particular, the Brown Shoe Company is recognized as a principal player in challenging the 19th century dominance of the New England shoe industry. This significantly contributed to the early 20th century sobriquet of St. Louis as the city of "shoes, booze, and blues." The Brown Shoe Company's Homes-Take factory is considered to be among the pioneering industrial facilities of this historic transformation.

The William A. Paterson Factory Complex was a factory located at 126 East 3rd Street in Flint, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The building was demolished in 1996.
The Building at 900 West Lake Street is a historic building in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1886, the building is an example of an industrial loft, a type of multi-story building that multiple companies could use for manufacturing and business purposes. The six-story building has a brick exterior and wooden interior columns, a typical support system for industrial lofts. The building has a commercial style exterior; like many industrial lofts, its formal architecture was meant to attract companies looking for sales and office space. Brick piers span the upper floors of the building, and brick corbelling lines the cornice and the top of the windows on even floors. The first floor features a cast iron storefront with decorative columns.
The Klingman Lofts is a former industrial building that has been converted to residential use, located at 400 Ionia Avenue SW, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was built in stages, beginning in 1895, as a furniture factory, and was formerly known as the Central Furniture Company Factory and the H.E. Shaw Furniture Company Factory. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. The building was renovated into apartment space in 2015.
889 Broadway, also known as the Gorham Manufacturing Company Building, is a Queen Anne style building located at Broadway and East 19th Street in the Flatiron District of Manhattan in New York City, within the Ladies' Mile Historic District. Built in 1883–1884, it was designed by Edward Hale Kendall.
The Steelcote Manufacturing Company Paint Factory, at 801 Edwin in St. Louis, Missouri, was built in 1922. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
The Haskelite Building, also known as the Haskell Manufacturing Company Building, is a former factory building located at 801 N. Rowe Street, Ludington, Mason County, Michigan. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 10, 2022. In 2022, the building was refurbished into residential apartments, known as the Lofts on Rowe.
