The Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation is D grade Municipal Corporation of Kolhapur District, Maharashtra, the governing body of the city of Ichalkaranji. [2] The municipal corporation consists of democratically elected members, is headed by a mayor and administers the city's infrastructure, public services and supplies. [3] Members from the state's leading various political parties hold elected offices in the corporation. [4]

In 2022, Maharashtra State cabinet decided to elevate Ichalkaranji to municipal corporation as city crossed of 287,570 population in 2011 census. [5] First election for the Municipal Corporation was yet to be conducted, after the predecessor City Council's term ended. [6] Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation has been formed with functions to improve the infrastructure of town. [7]
