Paraguay is a majority Christian country, with adherents of Islam being a minuscule minority. The latest statistics for Islam in Paraguay estimate a total Muslim population of under 1,000 representing 0.02% of the population. [1] Most of the Muslims are descendants of immigrants from Syria and Lebanon. The major Islamic organization in Paraguay is the Centro Benéfico Cultural Islámico Asunción , led by Faozi Mohamed Omairi. The community is concentrated in and around the capital, Asuncion.

Club Sol de América is a Paraguayan sports club, mostly known for its football team. The club is located in Barrio Obrero, Asunción, and was founded in 1909. The stadium Sol de America uses for most of its games is located in the suburb city of Villa Elisa on the border of the capital city, Asunción. Sol de America have won the Paraguayan First Division title on two occasions, in 1986 and then again in 1991. They also have a strong basketball team and an athletics department.

The arrival of immigrants of Lebanese origin to Paraguay consisted of many people who have settled in this country, bringing their customs and way of life. Many were the reasons which prompted these people to leave their native Lebanon and migrate to several Latin American countries, with the aim to seek a better quality of life after the World War I and the Second World War. In modern day, the large amount of Lebanese immigrants to Paraguay reside in Ciudad del Este, alongside neighbor city Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, which has a large population of Lebanese immigrants. Lebanon has an embassy in the city of Asunción, whilst Paraguay has an embassy in the city of Beirut.

The Hipódromo de Asunción is an 80,000-seat horse racing track located in the neighborhood of the same name in Asunción, Paraguay. It is owned by the Jockey Club del Paraguay. It was inaugurated on 18 September 1954 and is the largest in the country.
