Labuan Corporation or Perbadanan Labuan(PL) is a local authority which administers the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia. This agency is under Department of Federal Territories Malaysia. PL are responsible for public health and sanitation, waste removal and management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social and economic development and general maintenance functions of urban infrastructure. The PL main headquarters that is Wisma Perbadanan Labuan located at Jalan Dewan, Victoria. PL has another office building, Menara Perbadanan Labuan at Jalan OKK Awang Besar.

History

Labuan Corporation was established on 1 July 2001 under Act 609, Perbadanan Labuan Act 2001. It is the merger between two agencies, the Labuan Development Authority (LDA) and Labuan Municipal Council (MPL).

Board of Directors

The Board Members that are appointed by the Minister of Federal Territories consist of a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman and 4 other members. [1]

Advisory Council

Members of the Advisory Council that have been appointed by the Ministed of Federal Territories consist of a Chairman and 6 other members who shall consist of at least three local residents of the Federal Territory of Labuan. Members of the Advisory Council shall be responsible for the giving of advice to Labuan Corporation in relation to the functions of a local government carried out by Labuan Corporation. [2]

Mohd Sidek bin Hassan is a Malaysian former civil servant, who served in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service of the Malaysian Civil Service from 1974 to 2012, with the last six years as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia. Bashir Haji Alias is a Member of the Senate of Malaysia for the first term from 2017 until 2020 and for the second term again since 2023 representing Labuan. Bashir is the Labuan Division United Malays National Organization Chief. He was firstly appointed as the Chairman of the Labuan Corporation Advisory Council in 2016 to 2018 to replace the late Yunus Kurus, a former Senator. Then he was reappointed again for a second term, serving from 2020 to 2022 to replace Rozman Isli, who crossed the floor from UMNO to the Heritage Party.

Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf bin Yusoh is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 13th chief minister of Melaka since March 2023 and Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tanjung Bidara since November 2021. He served as Senior Member of the Melaka State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to his promotion to the chief ministership in March 2023 and Speaker of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly from May 2020 to October 2021. Mohd Annuar bin Zaini is an administrative figure in Malaysia. He is currently the President of Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Custom Council, and a Non Official Member of the Member of State Senate of Perak. He was the Chairman of BERNAMA for six years.
