The 2011 Pan American Games were held in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 14 to October 30, 2011. A total of about 6,000 athletes representing 42 National Olympic Committees participated in these Games. Overall, 361 events in 36 disciplines were contested; 188 events were open to men, 160 to women and 13 were in mixed competition. Two disciplines were open only to men: baseball and rugby sevens, while softball and Synchronized swimming were the sports in which only women were allowed to compete. [1] Racquetball and basque pelota returned to the Pan American Games after missing the last edition of the Games and rugby sevens made its debut. New events in fencing, karate, squash, track cycling and water skiing made their debut at the Games. [2]

The men's hammer throw competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens was held at the Olympic Stadium on 20–22 August. There were 35 competitors from 24 nations. After a series of doping-related disqualifications, the event was won by Koji Murofushi of Japan, the nation's first medal in the event. All distances are given in metres.
Athletes from Belarus began their Olympic participation at the 1952 Summer Games in Helsinki, Finland, as part of the Soviet Union. After the Soviet Union disbanded in 1991, Belarus, along with four of the other fourteen former Soviet republics, competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics as the Unified Team. The 2007 Pan American Games, officially known as the XV Pan American Games, were a continental multi-sport event held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 13 to July 29, 2007. According to the Rio de Janeiro Organizing Committee for the Pan American Games, 2,196 medals were awarded for every winning athlete, including individuals from teams, during 334 awards ceremonies.

Wrestling at the 2012 Summer Olympics were held between 5 and 12 August, the final day of the Games, at ExCeL London. It was split into two disciplines, Freestyle and Greco-Roman which were further divided into different weight categories. Daniel Pineda Contreras is a Chilean track and field athlete who competes in the long jump. He holds the Chilean national record in the event with his personal best jump of eight metres. In 2011 he was third at the South American Championships in Athletics, then won the gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games after the original winner was disqualified.
The 4 × 100 metres relay at the Summer Olympics is the shortest track relay event held at the multi-sport event. The men's relay has been present on the Olympic athletics programme since 1912 and the women's event has been continuously held since the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. It is the most prestigious 4×100 m relay race at elite level.
The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the XVIII Asiad, is the largest sporting event in Asia governed by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). It was held at Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia between 18 August – 2 September 2018, with 465 events in 40 sports and disciplines featured in the Games. This resulted in 465 medal sets being distributed.
