    The fifth-generation era refers to computer and video games, video game consoles, and handheld gaming consoles dating from approximately October 4, 1993 to March 23, 2006. For home consoles, the best-selling console was the PlayStation (PS), followed by the Nintendo 64 (N64), and then the Sega Saturn. The PlayStation also had a redesigned version, the PSOne, which was launched on July 7, 2000.

    Need for Speed (NFS) is a racing video game franchise published by Electronic Arts and currently developed by Ghost Games. The series centers around illicit street racing and in general tasks players to complete various types of races while evading the local law enforcement in police pursuits. The series released its first title, The Need for Speed, in 1994. The most recent game, Need for Speed Heat, was released on November 8, 2019.

    The James Bond video game franchise is a series of predominantly shooter games and games of other genres. Several games are based upon the James Bond film series and developed and published by a variety of companies, centering on Ian Fleming's fictional British MI6 agent, James Bond. The intellectual property is owned by Danjaq, LLC.

    <i>One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird</i> video game

    One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird, commonly known as One on One, is a 1983 computer basketball game written by Eric Hammond for the Apple II and published by Electronic Arts. It was ported to the Atari 8-bit family, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, IBM PC, TRS-80 Color Computer, and later to Macintosh, Amiga, and Atari 7800. In Europe, the publisher was Ariolasoft.

    <i>Motor City Online</i> 2001 video game

    Motor City Online was a racing massively multiplayer online video game released by Electronic Arts on October 29, 2001. The point of the game was to buy classic cars ranging from 1930s to 1970s models, tune them up, and race them against other players. The game went offline on August 29, 2003 so EA Games could focus on their current online game at the time, The Sims Online. EA, however, developed a new online racing game, called Need for Speed: World. Many fans of Motor City Online consider Need for Speed: World a Spiritual successor of Motor City Online, although EA has denied any direct link between the two games.

    Frostbite (game engine) game engine

    Frostbite is a game engine developed by DICE, designed for cross-platform use on Microsoft Windows, seventh generation game consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and eighth generation game consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

    <i>Peggle</i> 2007 video game

    Peggle is a casual puzzle video game developed by PopCap Games. Initially released for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X systems in 2007, it has since had versions released for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, the Nintendo DS, Windows Mobile, iOS, Zeebo and Android; the game has also been ported as a Java application, and an extended minigame incorporated into the massively multiplayer online game World of Warcraft. A sequel was released in September 2008, titled Peggle Nights. PopCap, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, announced Peggle 2 at E3 2013.

    Ever since Pole Position in 1983, Formula One has always played a part of the racing genre in video games. Geoff Crammond's 1991 simulation Grand Prix played an integral role in moving Formula One games from arcade games to being full simulations of the sport.     <i>NASCAR 09</i> 2008 video game

    NASCAR 09 is the twelfth and final simulation installment in the EA Sports NASCAR series, it is the sequel to 2007 game NASCAR 08. It is developed by EA Tiburon and released on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and mobile phones in North America on June 10, 2008. On March 12, 2008, EA announced Jeff Gordon as the cover athlete for NASCAR 09. Through the career mode, "Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup", Gordon leads a mentoring program, a new feature offered in NASCAR 09. This is also the third EA Sports NASCAR video game to appear on a handheld system for Mobile phone version.

    <i>Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare</i> 2014 third-person shooter video game

    Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a multiplayer third-person shooter and tower defense video game developed by PopCap Games and published by Electronic Arts. The third game in the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, the basic premise revolves around plants defending humankind from a zombie invasion. In the game, players assume control of either the Plants or the Zombies, as they fight in various cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes. Upon completing matches and finishing objectives, players earn coins to acquire stickers that unlock customization items and character variants.

    Ghost Games Swedish video game developer

    Ghost Games is a Swedish video game developer owned by Electronic Arts and located in Gothenburg. The studio has two other locations; one based in Guildford in the United Kingdom and another in Bucharest, Romania and oversees the development of the Need for Speed racing franchise. Employees of Ghost include former staff members of EA DICE, Black Box, Criterion Games and Playground Games.

    <i>Peggle 2</i> 2013 video game

    Peggle 2 is a casual puzzle video game developed by PopCap Games and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to Peggle. Electronic Arts announced Peggle 2 during the E3 2013 press conference, and also as a timed exclusive for the Xbox One. Peggle 2 adds four new masters, with the return of Bjorn Unicorn, new gameplay options, in-game features, and more. An Xbox 360 version of the game was released on May 7, 2014 as well as a PlayStation 4 version on October 14, 2014.

    <i>EA Sports F1 2001</i> video game

    EA Sports F1 2001 is an EA Sports video game based on the 2001 Formula One season. The game was developed by Image Space Incorporated and published by EA Sports. It is a sequel to the 2000 video game F1 2000 and was the second title in the EA Sports F1 series. The game was released for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox platforms. A port for GameCube has been planned, but was cancelled for unknown reasons. A Game Boy Color version was also cancelled during development.
