In India many educational trusts and institutions which have no accreditation give autonomous degrees for profit.
In Chile many universities are suspected of violating legislation that forbids profitmaking in such institutions. [5] [6] [7]
Conversions from for-profit to nonprofit are legitimate when the assets and income are fully committed to the educational purpose, and control by private interests is eliminated. Some converted nonprofits may not be legitimate. [13] A Government Accountability Office report about the problem is anticipated. [14]
