Budapest Capital of Hungary

Budapest is the capital and most populous city of Hungary. It is the ninth-largest city in the European Union by population within city limits; the city has an estimated population of 1,752,286 over a land area of about 525 square kilometres. Budapest, which is both a city and county, forms the centre of the Budapest metropolitan area, which has an area of 7,626 square kilometres and a population of 3,303,786, comprising 33% of the population of Hungary.

The Sziget Festival is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget, a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year.

Csepel Island is the largest island on the Danube in Hungary. It is 48 km (30 mi) long; its width after 3 km (2 mi) sections of bifurcation and rejoining (confluence) varies from 6 to 8 km. It has an area of 257 km2 (99 sq mi) and its population is 165,000.

Hajógyári Island

Hajógyári Island or Óbudai-sziget is the largest Danubian island in Budapest. Located in District III, it is a popular recreational area, year round. It is the home of the international Sziget Festival every August.

Survivor – A sziget is the Hungarian version of the Survivor game show, which was broadcast on RTL Klub. Its host was András Stohl. Two seasons were broadcast from September 2003 to December 2004. The prize for the sole survivors was 10,000,000 Ft and a Honda car. In 2017 RTL Klub decided to bring back the series with the new season premiering on 28 August 2017 with a new host, Bence Istenes.

Szentendre Island

Szentendre Island is an island in the Danube River between the Danube Bend and Budapest in Hungary. The island is flanked by the Szentendre branch of the Danube to the west, and the main branch of the river to the east. It is 31 km long with an area of 56 km², and forms part of the Szentendre District of Pest County.

Kisbárkány


Kisbárkány is a village in Nógrád County, Hungary with 161 inhabitants (2014). The village is located in a narrow valley between the wooded hills of the Cserhát. The population is Hungarian but the village also has some homeowners from Western European countries. In the wide valley adjacent to Kisbárkány, at the end of a dead end road, lies Bedepuszta, a small hamlet used as event village for international events, like Sziget Detox/Sziget Retreat.

The Magyar Sziget festival is a nationalist festival organised in the Hungarian city of Verőce, by the Sixty-Four Counties Youth Movement (HVIM) under leadership of László Toroczkai. In 2015 the location was changed to Velence. The name itself is an example of the feeling of isolation of Hungary. It can be seen as a metaphor for the 'island' of Hungary within a sea of non-Finno-Ugric languages. The festival is not to be confused with the 'normal' Hungarian Sziget festival.

AWS (band) Hungarian post-hardcore band

AWS is a Hungarian metalcore band formed in 2006 by Bence Brucker, Dániel Kökényes, Örs Siklósi and Áron Veress. Their music is characterized by diversity, powerful performances, and sudden changes, which utilizes metal, psychedelic rock, alternative and post-rock styles. Up to now, they have released four studio albums, two live albums and fourteen video clips. Their music videos often have juxtapositions of images of violence and celebrities in order to bring light to problems that the world faces, exhibiting what they call being "anti-celebrity". They represented Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song Viszlát nyár.

Lupa Island (Hungary)

Lupa Island is an island on the Danube in Hungary. It is located on the Szentendre branch of the Danube, to the west of the much larger Szentendre Island and 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) to the north of the capital Budapest. It forms part of the town of Budakalász, in Szentendre District of Pest County.
