The republic lasted only from December 1, 1821 to February 9, 1822 when it was invaded by the Republic of Haiti.

Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium is open-air multi-purpose stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Opened in 1974 for the XII Central American & Caribbean Games and renovated 2003 Pan American Games is the largest stadium in the Dominican Republic used mostly for football and track and field and as a music venue. The stadium has a sporting events' capacity of 27,000 people, though it has seen crowds of 35,000. For concerts, its stated capacity is 50,000 people.

The Haitian occupation of Santo Domingo was the annexation and merger of then-independent Republic of Spanish Haiti into the Republic of Haiti, that lasted twenty-two years, from February 9, 1822, to February 27, 1844. The part of Hispaniola under Spanish administration was first ceded to France and merged with the French colony of Saint Domingue as a result of the Peace of Basel in 1795. However, with the outbreak of the Haitian Revolution the French lost the western part of the island, while remaining in control of the eastern part of the island until the Spanish recaptured Santo Domingo in 1809.

Jánico is a municipality (municipio) of the Santiago province in the Dominican Republic. Within the municipality there are two municipal districts : El Caimito and Juncalito.

She is known for her execution of the Produnova—a handspring double front on vault. She qualified for the vault finals at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2011 and the 2013 World Championships.

The Haitian minority of the Dominican Republic is the largest ethnic minority in the Dominican Republic since the early 20th century.

Alba María Antonia Cabral Cornero, known as Peggy, is a Dominican journalist, television host, politician and diplomat. Cabral was co-president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party from 2013 to 2020; she also was vice-mayor of the National District (1998–2002). She served as Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic from 2019 to 2020. She is José Francisco Peña Gómez's widow.

Amable Aristy Castro was a politician and businessman from the Dominican Republic. He was a senior leader of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) and was a Senator for the province of La Altagracia. Aristy was the presidential candidate for his party in the 2008 presidential election. Due to the remarkable power and influence that he wielded on his native province, he was known as the "Chieftain of Higüey".

Luisito Pié, also known as Luis Pie, is a Haitian-Dominican taekwondo athlete who won the bronze medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 58 kg category.

Municipal elections were held in the Dominican Republic on February 16, 2020, to elect all local governments officials in the country, including mayors, deputy mayors, aldermen, directors, deputy directors, and voices in municipalities. However, due to countless electoral polling places reporting problems with the electronic voting system within the first few hours of opening the polls, the Central Electoral Board decided to suspend the elections. The elections were rescheduled to March 15, 2020.

Socorro Sánchez del Rosario was a Dominican educator and journalist. She was the first feminist journalist of the country. She also founded the first secular coeducational school in the Dominican Republic, as well as the first women's library, first women's normal school and first women's pharmacy training courses. There are several schools in the country which have been named after her.

Robert Pigozzi Perdomo is a Dominican water skier. He won the gold medal in Water skiing at the 2019 Pan American Games and the silver in 2023. He have won gold medals in the 2017 and the 2022 Bolivarian Games.

Ángel Rosario, known by his stage name Ángel Dior, is a Dominican rapper and singer. Rosario was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was awarded in the Heat Latin Music Awards and Premios Juventud in the categories; Best Dominican Urban Artist, and Best Dembow Collaboration. He has collaborated with Rauw Alejandro, Karol G, 6ix9ine, El Alfa, Chimbala and Bad Bunny.
