Memoria Chilena is a Chilean cultural website which, according to its own words, "offers investigations and documents related to key topics which make up the Chilean identity, accessible through the areas of history, literature, social sciences, music, and visual arts." Memoria Chilena is, also, a virtual library, which preserves material from the Biblioteca Nacional de Chile and other institutions from the Dirección de Bibliotecas, Archivos y Museos (DIBAM).

Luz Donoso Puelma, also known as Luz Donoso, was a Chilean graphic artist, muralist, political activist, and teacher. Beginning in the mid 1960s, Donoso was one of the most prominent participants in the muralist movement that supported Salvador Allende’s presidential campaign. In the first months of the dictatorship she was dismissed from her teaching position at the University of Chile, like many of her colleagues, and shortly after co-founded an artist run work space and forum, Taller de Artes Visuales (TAV).

The Jaime Brunet International Prize was established in 1998 with the objective of distinguishing people, organizations and institutions that promote the defence of human rights. It is awarded by the Jaime Brunet Foundation of the UPNA. This award also aims to recognize the work of those who fight to eliminate situations of inhumane or degrading treatment in violation of people's inherent rights to dignity. The prize consists of a diploma, a sculpture commemorating the award and €36,000 in cash.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2019–2022 Chilean protests</span> Civil unrest

A series of massive demonstrations and severe riots, known in Chile as the Estallido Social, originated in Santiago and took place in all regions of Chile, with a greater impact in the regional capitals. The protests mainly occurred between October 2019 and March 2020, in response to a raise in the Santiago Metro's subway fare, a probity crisis, cost of living, university graduate unemployment, privatisation, and inequality prevalent in the country.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Santiago Metro Line 9</span>

Santiago Metro Line 9 will be a new line that will be part of the Santiago Metro and will have an approximate length of 17 kilometers (11 mi), connecting the communes of Santiago in the center and Puente Alto in the south of the Chilean capital.

On January 10, 2020, an 11-year-old student identified as José Ángel Ramos Betts, armed with two guns, opened fire at the facilities of Colegio Cervantes Campus Bosque, a private school in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, killing a teacher and wounding multiple teachers and classmates shortly before turning the gun on himself. The assailant wore a white t-shirt that read "Natural selection" and pants with black suspenders, which were reported as referring to Eric Harris, one of the perpetrators of the Columbine High School massacre.

Carlos Hernán Peña González is a lawyer and university professor who is since 2005 rector of the Diego Portales University and Sunday columnist of El Mercurio. Peña is also vicepresident of CIPER Chile; member of the directory of Fundación Nicanor Parra; Counsellor of Teatro Municipal de Santiago; member of the directory of Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos and member of the Comisión de Verdad Histórica y Nuevo Trato con los Pueblos Indígenas (2001-2003). He was also a government advisor in the Reforma Procesal Penal (1994-2000) and family law (1989-1994).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nissim Sharim</span> Chilean actor (1932–2020)

Nissim Sharim Paz was a Chilean actor and theater director. He was the director of Ictus theater company from 1962 to 2015, and is also known for having participated both in the TV show La Manivela and for a famous Banco Estado publicity together with Delfina Guzmán. He was also a prominent opponent of the military dictatorship.

Luis Alberto Otárola Peñaranda is a Peruvian attorney and politician who was the Prime Minister of Peru from 2022 until his resignation in 2024. He previously served as Minister of Defense twice, under Ollanta Humala and Dina Boluarte.

David Silberman Gurovich was a Chilean engineer who served as an official during the presidency of Socialist Salvador Allende. After the military coup that ousted Allende, Gurovich was detained and disappeared. He was Jewish. He was involved in nationalization efforts. His son David Silberman has advocated for documents related to his father's disappearance to be declassified.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ayacucho massacre</span> 2022 mass killing by the Peruvian army

The Ayacucho massacre was a massacre perpetrated by the Peruvian Army on 15 December 2022 in Ayacucho, Peru during the 2022–2023 Peruvian protests, occurring one day after President Dina Boluarte, with the support of right-wing parties, granted the Peruvian Armed Forces expanded powers and the ability to respond to demonstrations. On that day, demonstrations took place in Ayacucho and the situation intensified when the military deployed helicopters to fire at protesters, who later tried to take over the city's airport, which was defended by the Peruvian Army and the National Police of Peru. Troops responded by firing live ammunition at protesters, resulting in ten dead and 61 injured. Among the injured, 90% had gunshot wounds, while those killed were shot in the head or torso. Nine of the ten killed had wounds consistent with the ammunition used in the IMI Galil service rifle used by the army.

1214: No tememos a los cobardes is a 2021 Peruvian documentary film written and directed by Ernesto Carlín and Hernán Hurtado in their directorial debut. It is about the victims (1214) of the Aprista political party in the dark period of terror and death of the 80s by Shining Path.

<i>My Imaginary Country</i> 2022 Chilean film

My Imaginary Country is a 2022 Chilean-French documentary film written and directed by Patricio Guzmán. It features Guzmán narrating how the protests by a group of students in Santiago on October 18, 2019 triggered the most massive popular revolt known in the country's history and the consequences that were experienced.
