Hasler

List of the mainly electro mechanical switching systems from Hasler AG Bern, which were used in public telephone network in Switzerland for many decades. Hasler AG finally merged into Ascom in 1987.

The last HS 52 A and B exchanges were in operation until the end of 1997. The personnel-intensive electro mechanical systems were shut down prematurely then, due to the imminent opening of the telecoms market in Switzerland. The last AXE-10 local subscriber were migrated to VoIP in June 2020.

(CX evolved from the "Automanual" system designed by Edward Clements: "Clement eXchange" or "Community eXchange")

The McBerty design used an early "wire spring relay" and welded piano wire interconnections rather than complex wire multiples. The system never achieved the reputation of the CX product due to problems with poor contact pressure in the interconnection relays. Despite its much lower cost of production and installation, the level of maintenance required to keep these systems on good order doomed this variation of the CX design.

This later was renamed the ITT 1210 product upon purchase of North electric by ITT.

L.M. Ericsson purchased North Electric in the early 1950s and brought this Swedish design to North where it was reworked to conform to U.S. telecommunications requirements.

The NX-1E was not a SPC switch, rather it was a conventional path controlled switching matrix with electronic processors (computers) replacing the control, route selection and translation (directory number to line ID) functions.

A Class-5 telephone switch is a telephone exchange in the public switched telephone network (PSTN) that directly serves subscribers and manages subscriber calling features. Class-5 services include basic dial-tone, calling features, and additional digital and data services to subscribers connected to a local loop.

System Y is the terminology used by BT, the main operator of the telephone network in the United Kingdom, to refer to the Ericsson AXE digital switching system.

Nortel Meridian is a private branch exchange telephone switching system. It provides advanced voice features, data connectivity, LAN communications, computer telephony integration (CTI), and information services for communication applications ranging from 60 to 80,000 lines.

In telephony, ground start is a method of signaling from a terminal of a subscriber local loop to a telephone exchange, where one side of a cable pair is temporarily grounded to request dial tone. Most middle 20th-century American payphones used coin-first ground start lines, with the starting ground connection provided by the coin itself, bridging a set of contacts as it passes through the coin chute.

Stromberg-Carlson was a United States telecommunications equipment and electronics manufacturing company. It was formed in 1894 as a partnership by Swedish immigrants Alfred Stromberg and Androv Carlson. It was one of five companies that controlled the national supply of telephone equipment until after World War II.

Stored program control (SPC) is a telecommunications technology for telephone exchanges. Its characteristic is that the switching system is controlled by a computer program stored in a memory in the switching system. SPC was the enabling technology of electronic switching systems (ESS) developed in the Bell System in the 1950s, and may be considered the third generation of switching technology. Stored program control was invented in 1954 by Bell Labs scientist Erna Schneider Hoover, who reasoned that computer software could control the connection of telephone calls.

A class-4, or tandem, telephone switch is a U.S. telephone company central office telephone exchange used to interconnect local exchange carrier offices for long distance communications in the public switched telephone network.

A "Community Dial Office" (CDO) was a small Class 5 telephone exchange in a rural area.

A telephone exchange, telephone switch, or central office is a telecommunications system used in the public switched telephone network (PSTN) or in large enterprises. It interconnects telephone subscriber lines or virtual circuits of digital systems to establish telephone calls between subscribers.

The 1100-series IP phones are 6 different desktop IP clients manufactured by Avaya for Unified communications which can operate on the SIP or UNIStim protocols. The SIP Firmware supports presence selection and notification along with secure instant messaging.
