Herkimer County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 64,519. Its county seat is Herkimer. The county was created in 1791 north of the Mohawk River out of part of Montgomery County. It is named after General Nicholas Herkimer, who died from battle wounds in 1777 after taking part in the Battle of Oriskany during the Revolutionary War.

West Canada Creek is an important water way in Hamilton, Oneida, and Herkimer counties, draining the south part of the Adirondack Mountains before emptying into the Mohawk River near the Village of Herkimer. The name "Canada" is derived from a Native American word for "village" (Kanata).

Cold Brook Feed Mill is a historic grist mill located at Cold Brook in Herkimer County, New York. It includes the mill, mill dam, flume, and land on both sides of the stream between the mill and dam. The mill is a simple wood frame structure built in 1857. The main block is two story, square structure with a shed roof, and attached is a one-story, plus basement, lean-to, added after 1857. It is equipped with the original water powered stone grinder and corn sheller.
Starkville is hamlet located west of Fort Plain on NY 80, in the eastern part of the town of Stark in southern Herkimer County, New York, United States. Established in the late 18th century, at one time the hamlet had a post office, three churches, two hotels, a store, several mills, a cheese factory, a number of shops and about 40 homes.
