The locality takes its name from a local Aboriginal man, Menvil Wamuran (also known as Jacky Delaney). [2]
Basin State School opened on 2 March 1920. It closed on 1957. [3] It was unofficially known as Wamuran Basin State School. [4] It was at 4 R Sampson Road ( 27°02′45″S152°49′34″E / 27.0458°S 152.8262°E ). [5] [6] [7]
