The 1866 Minnesota State Auditor election was held on 6 November 1866 in order to elect the state auditor of Minnesota. Republican nominee and incumbent state auditor Charles McIlrath defeated Democratic nominee Nelson E. Nelson. [1]
On election day, 6 November 1866, Republican nominee Charles McIlrath won re-election by a margin of 10,383 votes against his opponent Democratic nominee Nelson E. Nelson, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of state auditor. McIlrath was sworn in for his third term on 11 January 1867. [2]
