The 1976 United States presidential election in Kansas took place on November 2, 1976, as part of the 1976 United States presidential election. Kansas voters chose seven representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.

Kansas was won by incumbent President Gerald Ford (R–Michigan). with 52.49 percent of the popular vote, against Jimmy Carter (D–Georgia), with 44.94 percent of the popular vote.^[1] None of the third-party candidates amounted to a significant portion of the vote, but Eugene McCarthy (I–Minnesota) won 1.38 percent of the popular vote in Kansas, finishing third in the state. This was the only occasion between 1964 and 1988 that the Democrats won any Kansas county except Wyandotte.

Ford's running mate was Bob Dole, Kansas' junior U.S. senator since 1969. Dole, a native of Russell, was previously the U.S. representative from Kansas's 1st congressional district from 1963 to 1968 after representing the defunct 6th district for one term.

Despite losing in Kansas, Carter went on to win the national election and became the 39th president of the United States. As of the 2024 presidential election ^[update], this is the last election in which the following counties have voted for a Democratic presidential candidate: Anderson, Butler, Cloud, Edwards, Finney, Ford, Gray, Greeley, Hamilton, Hodgeman, Kingman, Ness, Pawnee, Reno, Rice, Rush, Stafford, Sumner, and Wichita.^[2]

Presidential elections were held in the United States on November 2, 1976. The Democratic ticket of Jimmy Carter, the former governor of Georgia, and his runningmate Walter Mondale, the senior senator from Minnesota, narrowly defeated the Republican ticket of Gerald Ford, the incumbent president, and his runningmate Bob Dole, the junior senator from Kansas. This was the first presidential election since 1932 in which the incumbent was defeated, as well as the only Democratic victory of the six presidential elections between 1968 and 1988.

Sumner County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat is Wellington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 22,382. The county is named after Charles Sumner, a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts who was a leader of Reconstruction politics.

Ness County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat and largest city is Ness City. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 2,687. The county was named for Noah Ness, a corporal of the 7th Kansas Cavalry.

Hodgeman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat and most populous city is Jetmore. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 1,723. It was named for Amos Hodgman, a member of the 7th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry.

The Diocese of Dodge City is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in southwestern Kansas in the United States. Pope Pius XII created the diocese on May 19, 1951.

Peketon County was a county of the United States Territory of Kansas that existed from 1860 and 1865.

The 2010 Kansas gubernatorial election was held on November 2, 2010. Incumbent Governor Mark Parkinson, who assumed office when previous Governor Kathleen Sebelius was sworn in as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services on April 28, 2009, declined to seek election to a full term. Senator Sam Brownback, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2008, emerged as the Republican nominee, facing off against Democratic State Senator Tom Holland, who was unopposed for his party's nomination. Brownback defeated Holland in a landslide to become the 46th Governor of Kansas. As of 2022, this is the last gubernatorial election in Kansas where the winner received over 50% of the vote.

The 2002 Kansas gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 2002. Incumbent Governor Bill Graves, a Republican, was barred from seeking a third term by the Kansas Constitution. Kansas Insurance Commissioner Kathleen Sebelius, the Democratic nominee, ran against Kansas State Treasurer Tim Shallenburger, the Republican nominee, with Sebelius defeating Shallenburger to become the second female Governor of Kansas after Joan Finney who served as governor from 1991 to 1995.

The Kansas District Courts are the state trial courts of general jurisdiction in the U.S. state of Kansas. The Courts have original jurisdiction over all civil and criminal cases, and jury trials are held in the Courts. Among the cases litigated in the District Courts are domestic relations, lawsuits for damages, probate and administration of estates, legal guardianship, conservatorship, the mentally ill, juvenile justice, and small claims. It is here that the criminal and civil jury trials are held.

The National Weather Service Wichita, Kansas is a local weather forecast office of the National Weather Service responsible for monitoring weather conditions for 26 counties in central, south-central, and southeastern Kansas, including the Wichita Metropolitan Area and Salina, Kansas.

The 1996 United States presidential election in Oklahoma took place on November 5, 1996. All fifty states and the District of Columbia, were part of the 1996 United States presidential election. Voters chose eight electors to the Electoral College, which selected the president and vice president. Oklahoma was won by Kansas Senator Bob Dole, who was running against incumbent United States President Bill Clinton of Arkansas. Clinton ran a second time with former Tennessee Senator Al Gore as vice president, and Dole ran with former New York Congressman Jack Kemp.

A special election was held on April 11, 2017, to determine the member of the United States House of Representatives for Kansas's 4th congressional district after the incumbent, Mike Pompeo, resigned because of his nomination by President Donald Trump as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Republican Ron Estes received 52.2% of the vote and won, while runner-up Democrat James Thompson lost with 46% of the vote.

Kansas's 33rd Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Kansas Senate. It has been represented by Republican Mary Jo Taylor since 2017; Taylor was defeated in the 2020 Republican primary by State Representative Alicia Straub.
