The 1948 United States presidential election in Kansas took place on November 2, 1948, as part of the 1948 United States presidential election. Voters chose eight [2] representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.

Contents

Kansas was won by Governor Thomas E. Dewey (RNew York), running with Governor Earl Warren, with 53.63 percent of the popular vote, against incumbent President Harry S. Truman (DMissouri), running with Senator Alben W. Barkley, with 44.61 percent of the popular vote. [3] [4]

With 53.63 percent of the popular vote, Kansas would prove to be Dewey's fourth strongest state in the nation after Vermont, Maine and neighboring Nebraska. [5]
