George Smitherman is a former Canadian politician and broadcaster. He represented the provincial riding of Toronto Centre in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2010, when he resigned to contest the mayoralty of Toronto in the 2010 municipal election. Smitherman is the first openly gay Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) elected in Ontario, and the province's first openly gay cabinet minister.

He stood as a candidate in the 2015 Ontario PC leadership race, but ultimately withdrew and endorsed Christine Elliott.

Giuseppe "Joe" Cimino is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a New Democratic member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from June to November 2014. He resigned five months after being elected for health reasons. Prior to his provincial role he was a city councillor in the Greater Sudbury City Council from 2006 to 2014.
The 2015 Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario leadership election was held on May 9, 2015, as a result of the resignation of Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak following the provincial election on June 12, 2014, his second loss in a row as party leader. Christine C. G. Hogarth is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. She represents the electoral district of Etobicoke—Lakeshore as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, for which she previously served as Ontario executive director.
The 2023 Ontario Liberal Party leadership election was held following the resignation of Steven Del Duca on June 2, 2022, after the party won only 8 seats and failed again to gain official party status in the general election.
