Council elections for the Preston City Council were last held on 2 May 2019 as part of the 2019 United Kingdom local elections. The council underwent a wholesale boundary revision, reducing the number of both Councillors and electoral wards, resulting in the first 'all out' election since 2002 Preston Council election.
All locally registered electors (British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens) who are aged 18 or over on polling day are entitled to vote in the local elections.

(Kingston upon) Hull City Council is the governing body for the unitary authority and city of Kingston upon Hull. It was created in 1972 as the successor to the Corporation of Hull, which was also known as the Hull Corporation and founded in 1440 by royal charter.
The 2016 Gloucester City Council election took place on 5 May 2016 to elect members of Gloucester City Council in England. All seats are up for election at the same time due to boundary changes. This was on the same day as other local elections. The council also changed from electing a third of the council to electing the entire council. They were originally planned for 7 May 2020, but postponed until 6 May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 Greater Manchester mayoral election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the mayor of Greater Manchester. This election, alongside other local and mayoral elections across England and Wales, was originally scheduled to take place on 7 May 2020, but was delayed by the UK Government on 13 March 2020, due to the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic. Buckinghamshire Council was elected for the first time in 2021, with subsequent elections to be held every fourth year thereafter. A total of 147 councillors were elected, with the 49 wards electing 3 councillors each.

This was on the same day as the other local elections in England. Each of Oxford's 24 wards elect two councillors.

The 2021 Hull City Council election took place on 6 May 2021 to elect members of Hull City Council in England. This was on the same day as other nationwide local elections. In March 2020 the government announced that the elections scheduled for 7 May 2020 would be delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They were now held at the same time as the elections previously scheduled for 2021. Following a review of Ward boundaries by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) the whole council was elected in 2018, the 2nd placed winning candidate at that election is up for re-election in 2021. The Labour Party was defending overall control of the council.
