Elections to Rushmoor Borough Council took place on 6 May 2021 as part of the 2021 United Kingdom local elections. [1] This took place at the same time as the elections for Hampshire County Council and the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner. [2] [3]
In the previous election, the Conservatives won nine of the 13 seats up for election. In the 2021 election they were due to defend eight of thirteen seats up for election, and were mathematically incapable of losing their majority. [4] The statement of persons nominated was published on Friday 9 April. [5]

Farnborough is a town located in the Rushmoor district of Hampshire, England. It has a population of around 57,486 as of the 2011 census and is an important centre of aviation, engineering and technology. The town is probably best known for its association with aviation, including the Farnborough Airshow, Farnborough Airport, Royal Aircraft Establishment, and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
Rushmoor is a local government district with borough status in Hampshire, England. It covers the towns of Farnborough and Aldershot, the former of which is the location of the council.
One-third of Rushmoor Borough Council in Hampshire, England, is elected each year, followed by one year without election. From 1979, the council had 15 three-member wards, reduced to 14 wards in 2002 and 13 in 2012. Each ward elects 3 of the 39 councillors, one in each election year, for a term of four years, except in years when ward boundaries are changed when all councillors are elected for terms depending on their position in the poll.
The 2010 Rushmoor Council election took place on 6 May 2010 to elect members of Rushmoor Borough Council in Hampshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative Party stayed in overall control of the council.
The 2012 United Kingdom local elections were held across England, Scotland and Wales on 3 May 2012. The 2021 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 6 May 2021. More than 145 English local councils, around 5,000 councillor seats, thirteen directly elected mayors in England, and 39 police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were contested. On the same day, the 2021 Hartlepool by-election took place, and there were also elections to the Scottish Parliament, Senedd and London Assembly, the last in conjunction with the London mayoral election.

This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 34.1% across the elections, with Wales having much higher turnout mainly due to the simultaneous Senedd election held across Wales, whereas only parts of England had simultaneous local elections.

This was on the same day as the 2021 elections for the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, and the 2021 West Midlands mayoral election. These elections had been delayed from May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom.
The 2024 Rushmoor Borough Council election will take place on 2 May 2024 to elect councillors to Rushmoor Borough Council in Hampshire, England. This will be on the same date as other local elections across England. A third of the council will be up for election, and this set of seats were last conested in 2021.
