Barry County is a county located in the southwest portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 34,534. Its county seat is Cassville. The county was organized in 1835 and named after William Taylor Barry, a U.S. Postmaster General from Kentucky. The town of Barry, also named after the postmaster-general, was located just north of Kansas City, not in Barry County.
Cassville is a city in Flat Creek Township, Barry County, Missouri, United States. According to the 2020 census, the population of Cassville was 3,190. Cassville is one of the primary markets and job centers for an estimated 14,000 people living in the surrounding area. It is the county seat of Barry County.
Mark Twain National Forest (MTNF) is a U.S. National Forest located in the southern half of Missouri. MTNF was established on September 11, 1939. It is named for author Mark Twain, a Missouri native. The MTNF covers 3,068,800 acres (12,419 km2) of which 1,506,100 acres (6,095 km2) is public owned, 78,000 acres (320 km2) of which are Wilderness, and National Scenic River area. MTNF spans 29 counties and represents 11% of all forested land in Missouri. MTNF is divided into six distinct ranger districts: Ava-Cassville-Willow Springs, Eleven Point, Houston-Rolla, Cedar Creek, Poplar Bluff, Potosi-Fredericktown, and the Salem. The six ranger districts actually comprise nine overall unique tracts of forests. Its headquarters are in Rolla, Missouri.
The Devils Backbone Wilderness is one of eight wilderness areas protected and preserved in the U.S. State of Missouri. The United States Congress designated the wilderness area in 1980, and it now has a total of 6,595 acres (26 km2). Devil's Backbone is located within the Willow Springs section of the Ava-Cassville-Willow Springs Ranger District, of the Mark Twain National Forest, near Willow Springs, Missouri. It was named for a prominent ridge down the center of the area. Horseback riding is popular on a network of trails in the wilderness.
The Piney Creek Wilderness is an 8,122-acre (33 km2) wilderness area in Missouri. The United States Congress designated it wilderness in 1980. The Piney Creek Wilderness is located within the Ava-Cassville-Willow Springs Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest, east of Cassville, Missouri. The area is named after Piney Creek, which runs the length of the wilderness area and eventually empties into the James River arm of Table Rock Lake. The Piney Creek Wilderness is one of eight wilderness areas of the Mark Twain National Forest that are protected and preserved in Missouri.
The Hercules Glades Wilderness is a 12,314-acre (50 km2) wilderness area in Taney County in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri. The United States Congress designated it a wilderness in 1976, making it the oldest wilderness area in Missouri. It is one of eight wilderness areas in the Mark Twain National Forest and is within the Ava-Cassville-Willow Springs ranger district, about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Branson, Missouri. Hercules Glades Wilderness derives its name from the open limestone glades (balds) that dot its landscape. The high points of Coy Bald and Pilot Knob stand 600 feet above Long Creek and offer splendid views of the drainage. Near the middle of the wilderness area is the main set of waterfalls, though Long Creek has several other smaller waterfalls and cascades along its path.
East Campus is a neighborhood of Columbia, Missouri directly east of the University of Missouri and downtown Columbia. The area contains historic residential property as well many Greek student organizations houses. The district contains parts of Stephens College, the Boone Hospital Center's campus and the historic Lee Street Deli. It developed between about 1895 and 1945, and includes representative examples of Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture.
Mark Twain State Park is a public recreation area encompassing 2,775 acres (1,123 ha) on Mark Twain Lake in Monroe County, Missouri. The state park offers water recreation, hiking trails, and campgrounds. It is adjacent to the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site.

The Gasquet Ranger Station Historic District comprises a compound of buildings associated with the Gasquet Ranger District of Six Rivers National Forest. The U.S. Forest Service complex is located along the Smith River on U.S. Route 199 in Del Norte County, California, within Smith River National Recreation Area. Most of the buildings were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1933 and 1939. Seven buildings and a rock wall remain of the CCC-built structures. The district office, the assistant district ranger's residence, a warehouse, two garages and a fuel house were built in the Forest Service rustic style that prevailed at the time. The style is reflected in distinctive detailing, including a recurring pine tree cut-out logo that appears on gables and shutters.

Mark Twain School, also known as the Poplar Bluff Museum, is a historic school building located at Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri. It was built in 1910, and is a two-story, "H"-plan, Classical Revival style brick building. The building consists of two, parallel, rectangular-plan, hipped roof blocks joined by an enclosed two-story flat roof corridor. It remained in use as an elementary school until 1988.
Ava Ranger Station Historic District is a national historic district located near Ava, Douglas County, Missouri. The district encompasses five frame and limestone buildings constructed by Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936. They are the 1 1/2-story, Colonial Revival style Ranger's Office; 1 1/2-story, Colonial Revival style Ranger's Dwelling; garage; warehouse and an oil house. It continues to be used as a Ranger Station for the Mark Twain National Forest.
Mark Twain Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri. It was designed by Barnett, Haynes & Barnett and built in 1905. It is a four-story, Renaissance Revival style steel-frame structure with a granite foundation and beige pressed-brick exterior. The annex was built in 1918. It features semicircular arches over the main door and adjacent windows.
Benjamin Horr House, also known as the Standard Printing Company, is a historic home located at Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri. It was built about 1855, and is a two-story, vernacular Greek Revival style brick structure. It has a front gable roof with cornice. It is the earliest surviving building to have been used for education in Hannibal, having once housed a private school run by the family of one of Mark Twain's former schoolteachers.
Rolla Ranger Station Historic District is a historic ranger station and national historic district located at Mark Twain National Forest near Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri. The station includes five frame and limestone buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during 1937 and 1938. They were built under the supervision of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. They are a ranger's office, dwelling, garage, warehouse and oil house. The ranger's office and dwelling are 1 1/2-story, Colonial Revival influenced buildings.
Winona Ranger Station Historic District is a historic ranger station and national historic district located in Mark Twain National Forest near Winona, Shannon County, Missouri. The district encompasses four contributing buildings, associated with a ranger station constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) under the supervision of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. It developed between 1938 and 1938 and includes 1+1⁄2-story, Colonial Revival style ranger's dwelling, garage, warehouse, and oil house.
