The Michelin Guides are a series of guide books that have been published by the French tyre company Michelin since 1900. The Guide awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few restaurants in certain geographic areas. Michelin also publishes the Green Guides, a series of general guides to cities, regions, and countries.
Park Jin-young, also known by his stage names J. Y. Park and The Asiansoul or the initials JYP, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, record producer, record executive, and reality television show judge. Park rose to stardom as a singer following the release of his 1994 debut album, Blue City. In 1997, he became the founder of JYP Entertainment, one of the most profitable entertainment agencies in South Korea.
Hannam-dong (Korean: 한남동) is a dong, neighbourhood of Yongsan-gu in Seoul, South Korea. One of the most affluent neighborhoods in the country, it has been portrayed continuously in South Korea's popular culture as a wealthy and luxurious hotspot, and as a result of this reputation, the neighborhood has been the subject of numerous domestic films, television series, and popular music references.
Eleven Madison Park is a fine dining restaurant located inside the Metropolitan Life North Building at 11 Madison Avenue in the Flatiron District of Manhattan, New York City. Owned by Daniel Humm Hospitality, it has held 3 Michelin stars since 2012, and was ranked first among The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2017.
COTE Korean Steakhouse is owned and operated by Simon Kim, a Korean-American restaurateur. The first location was opened in the Flatiron District of New York City in 2017 and has been awarded one Michelin star and several accolades from the James Beard Foundation. COTE is the only Michelin-starred Korean barbecue restaurant in the world. COTE's second location opened in Miami Design District in February, 2021.
Corey Lee is a Korean-American chef and restaurateur based in San Francisco. In 2014, his flagship restaurant, Benu, became the first in San Francisco to receive three stars from the Michelin Guide, making Lee the first Korean chef to garner that accolade. In 2019, Benu made its debut on The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Lee is also a two-time James Beard Award winner, a former Food & Wine Best New Chef, and a Goodwill Ambassador to Seoul.
Simon Kim is a Korean-American restaurateur who owns and operates COTE Korean Steakhouse, a restaurant with locations in New York, Miami and Singapore. COTE New York has received a star from the Michelin Guide each year since opening in 2017. Kim's original “Korean Steakhouse” concept combines Korean barbecue with an American steakhouse experience and was inspired by his dual nationalities. Crain’s New York named Kim as one of their “40 Under 40” business leaders in 2019. In 2021, the National Restaurant Association, which represents 1 million restaurant and foodservice outlets and a workforce of 15.6 million employees, elected Kim to serve on their board.
Jungsik is a fine dining restaurant chain, with branches in Seoul and New York City. The restaurant serves Korean cuisine and has received a Michelin star.
Gaon, stylized as GAON, is a fine dining restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. As of 2023, it is the only South Korean restaurant to receive three Michelin stars for seven years in a row, from when the Michelin Guide Seoul first began to be published in 2016. In 2023, it went on an indefinite hiatus.
La Yeon (Korean: 라연) is a fine dining restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. It is located on the 23rd floor of the hotel The Shilla Seoul. It received two Michelin stars in 2023. It was rated one of the top 200 global restaurants for the 2024 La Liste, and has remained in the top 500 restaurants since joining the list in 2017.
Mosu (Korean: 모수) is a fine-dining restaurant now based in Hong Kong. It first opened in San Francisco, California, United States in the summer of 2015. It then moved to Seoul, South Korea and reopened in 2017. It opened a Hong Kong branch on April 21, 2022, and closed its Seoul location in 2024. Its Seoul branch received three Michelin stars for 2024.
Kwonsooksoo (Korean: 권숙수) is a fine dining Korean restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. The restaurant opened in July 2015, and received two Michelin stars in the 2017 Michelin guide. It has maintained that rating through 2023.
Alla Prima is a fine dining restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 2015. The restaurant was awarded one Michelin star for 2017 and 2018, and received two stars for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Bicena is a fine dining restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. It serves contemporary Korean cuisine. The restaurant first opened in 2012 in Hannam-dong. In 2017, it moved to the 81st floor of Lotte World Tower. It received one Michelin star from the first time the guide was issued in 2017 through 2024.
Palate (Korean: 팔레트) is a fine dining restaurant in Busan, South Korea. It first opened in December 2019. In February 2024, the first year the Michelin Guide was issued for Busan, the restaurant received its first Michelin Star.
