This is an incomplete list of vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Vegetarian cuisine refers to food that meets vegetarian standards by not including meat and animal tissue products. For lacto-ovo vegetarianism (the most common type of vegetarianism in the Western world), eggs and dairy products such as milk and cheese are permitted. For lacto vegetarianism, the earliest known type of vegetarianism (recorded in India), dairy products are permitted, but eggs are not. [1] The strictest forms of vegetarianism are veganism, raw veganism, and fruitarianism, which exclude all animal products, including dairy products, as well as eggs and even some refined sugars if filtered and whitened with bone char.

The Saturn Cafe is a vegetarian diner in Oakland, California, with former locations in Berkeley, Los Angeles, and Santa Cruz. Its original Santa Cruz location was established in 1979 and closed in 2021; the Los Angeles restaurant opened in 2020. The Santa Cruz location has been variously owned by Don Lane, a husband and wife team, and former employees of the diner. The Berkeley location of Saturn Cafe was open from 2009 to 2018.

The Green Elephant Vegetarian Bistro is a vegetarian restaurant serving Thai cuisine in Portland, Maine, that opened in 2007 in the city's Arts District. A second Green Elephant restaurant is located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Both have received critical attention for their vegetarian dishes.

Çiğköftem is a Turkish fast food chain and franchise that mainly sells vegan çiğ köfte. The chain also sells products with cow's milk dairy and is overall certified with the vegetarian V-Label. In 2020, the brand encompassed around 130 restaurants.

Harlow is a small chain of gluten-free and vegetarian restaurants in Portland, Oregon. Britt Galloway and Karen Pride opened the original cafe on Hawthorne Boulevard, in southeast Portland's Richmond neighborhood, in 2013. The business was purchased by Adam and Jackie Sappington in 2018. The couple opened a second location in northwest Portland's Northwest District in 2021, followed by a third location on Alberta Street in northeast Portland's Vernon neighborhood. The original cafe relocated within Richmond in 2024. Harlow has garnered a positive reception.
