The North–South Expressway is a network of tolled controlled-access highways running through the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The expressway network consists of the northern route and southern route, having a total length of 772 kilometres. Running through seven states and connecting the Thailand and Singapore borders, the North–South Expressway is an important thoroughfare for local, interstate and international traffic. The expressway is part of route AH2, a designation of the Asian Highway Network.
Taiping is a town located in Larut, Matang and Selama District, Perak, Malaysia. It is located approximately 48 km (30 mi) northwest of Ipoh, the capital of Perak, and 78 km (48 mi) southeast of George Town, Penang. With a population of 245,182, it is the second largest town in Perak after Ipoh, the state capital.
Lebuh Ayer Keroh, Federal Route 143, also known as Lebuhraya Ayer Keroh or Ayer Keroh Avenue, is the main dual-carriageway highway that connects Malacca City of Malacca, Malaysia to the North–South Expressway via Ayer Keroh Interchange. Ayer Keroh, the main satellite town of Malacca City is located along the road. Lebuh Ayer Keroh used to be Melaka State Route M31 before being recommissioned by Malaysian Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya ). Before 1993, most of the road was a two-lane road before it was upgraded to a dual-carriageway in 1993 and in 1997.
Bukit Larut is a hill resort in Malaysia located in the state of Perak, Malaysia, 10 kilometres southwest from Taiping. It was established under the direction of British colonists in 1884 as a place of observation for tin mining activity and as a retreat for the English people who were based in nearby Larut and Taiping. The area was initially named Maxwell Hill after the British Malaya administrator George Maxwell, and was renamed as Bukit Larut in 1979.
Ayer Keroh is a town situated in Melaka Tengah District, Malacca, Malaysia. It is the seat of the state government since 2006, being the home of the state secretariat building complex – Seri Negeri complex and one of a few towns which formed the Hang Tuah Jaya municipality.
Machang is one of the ten districts in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia. It is situated at the centre of the state, bordering with Kelantanese territories of Kota Bharu to the north, Pasir Puteh to the east,Terengganu State to the southeast, Tanah Merah to the west and Kuala Krai to the south. Its major town and administrative centre is Machang town.

Hang Tuah Jaya is a planned area in the Malaysian state of Malacca created by its government as the state's administrative centre and smart city with economical, social, infrastructural and recreational developments. It was launched by the fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on 25 June 2006, consists of parts of Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin districts and covers an area of 144 square kilometres. The area became a municipality on 1 January 2010 and governed by the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council, which is headquartered at Melaka Mall in Ayer Keroh, opposite the headquarters of the Malacca City Council along Lebuh Ayer Keroh.
Malacca Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located in Ayer Keroh, Malacca, Malaysia. It was established in April 1984 as Ayer Keroh Recreational Forest, and got its present name on 1 June 2006. Recreational facilities here include the Malacca Forestry Museum, Malaysia Book Village, Prehistoric Garden, the Storyland, children's playgrounds, the Orang Asli Park, Deer Park, suspension bridge, watch towers and beautiful picnic spots. It spans over 359 hectares and as much as 10 hectares is used for a camping spot.
The Taiping Lake Gardens is the first public garden established during the British rule in Malaysia. The garden is located near Bukit Larut, and is equidistant to the town centre and the Taiping Zoo.
Jalan Bukit Larut, or Maxwell Hill Road, Federal Route 315, is a federal road in Perak, Malaysia. The road connects Taiping Lake Gardens in Taiping until Bukit Larut summit. The access road from Hutan Lipur Kaki Bukit Larut to Bukit Larut is available only by (government-owned) resort authority's Land Rovers although people are free to walk up the hill as many do for exercise. The journey, 13 kilometres from the base to the top of Bukit Larut using Land Rovers, takes around 30 minutes.
The Aborigines Museum is a museum in Ayer Keroh, Malacca, Malaysia, which showcases the native people relics found in the country. It was originally located inside Ayer Keroh Recreational Forest, but later relocated to its present area along Lebuh Ayer Keroh in December 1996 and went under the management of Malacca Museum Corporation. The museum was reopened on 3 February 1997.
