Lake Van is the largest lake in Turkey and Kurdistan. It lies in the far east of Turkey in the provinces of Van and Bitlis, in the Armenian highlands. It is a saline soda lake, receiving water from many small streams that descend from the surrounding mountains. It is one of the world's few endorheic lakes of size greater than 3,000 square kilometres (1,200 sq mi) and has 38% of the country's surface water. A volcanic eruption blocked its original outlet in prehistoric times. It is situated at 1,640 m (5,380 ft) above sea level. Despite the high altitude and winter averages below 0 °C (32 °F), high salinity usually prevents it from freezing; the shallow northern section can freeze, but rarely.
Van is a city in eastern Turkey's Van Province, on the eastern shore of Lake Van. It is the capital and largest city of Van Province.
Ankara Province is a province and metropolitan municipality of Turkey with the capital city Ankara. Its area is 25,632 km2, and its population is 5,782,285 (2022).

The Keban Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Euphrates, located in the Elazığ Province of Turkey. The dam is the first and uppermost of several large-scale dams to be built on the Euphrates by Turkey. Although the Keban Dam was not originally constructed as a part of the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP), it is now a fully integrated component of the project, which aims to stimulate economic development in Southeastern Turkey. Construction of the dam commenced in 1966 and was completed in 1974. Keban Dam Lake, the reservoir created by Keban Dam, has a surface area of 675 square kilometres (261 sq mi) and is reputedly the fourth-largest lake in Turkey after Lake Van, Lake Tuz, and the reservoir created by the Atatürk Dam.
Turkey Pond and Little Turkey Pond are a connected pair of water bodies located in Merrimack County in central New Hampshire, United States, in the city of Concord. The two ponds' elevations are controlled by a single dam at the outlet of Little Turkey Pond. The combined surface area of the two ponds is 332 acres (1.34 km2). The channel between the two ponds serves as the water course for the crew team for Saint Paul's School of Concord. Water from the Turkey Ponds flows via the Turkey River to the Merrimack River.
Sarıyar Dam is a dam 23 kilometres (14 mi) north of the town of Sarıyar in the Nallıhan district of Ankara Province. It is also located 60 kilometres (37 mi) upstream of Gökçekaya Dam on the Sakarya River, which runs into the Black Sea. It was completed in 1956. The total power output from the hydroelectric facility is 160 MW.
Altınkaya Dam is a rock-fill dam for irrigation and hydro power, on the River Kızılırmak, 23 km south of Bafra and 35 km west of Samsun in northern Turkey. It feeds Lake Derbent.
The following outline is provided as an overview of and topical guide to Turkey:
The Seyhan Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Seyhan River north of Adana, Turkey

Çınarcık Dam is a rock-fill dam on the Orhaneli River about 30 km (19 mi) east of Mustafakemalpaşa in Bursa Province, Turkey. It serves several purposes to include power, irrigation, flood control and municipal water supply to the city of Bursa. The dam was constructed between 1996 and 2002. Construction of the Uluabat Hydroelectric Station, which the dam supplies water to, began in 2006 and it was commissioned in 2010. The 125 m (410 ft) tall dam diverts water north through an 11.27 km (7.00 mi) long tunnel where it reaches the power station on the southern bank of Lake Uluabat. Water discharged from the 100 MW power station then enters the lake. The dam and power station are owned by the Turkish State Hydraulic Works.
