The Stellafane Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Springfield, Vermont, founded in 1920 by Russell W. Porter. The Pink Clubhouse was built in 1923 at the site by the Springfield Telescope Makers Club. The name Stellafane, suggested by Porter at the club's December 1923 meeting, is derived from the Latin words stella and fanum meaning "Shrine to the Stars", and originally referred specifically to the clubhouse, but has since come to refer to all of the club's land and buildings on the summit of Breezy Hill, west of downtown Springfield.

Vermont Route 30 (VT 30) is a 111.870-mile-long (180.037 km) north–south state highway in the U.S. state of Vermont. VT 30 runs from U.S. Route 5 and VT 9 in Brattleboro to US 7 and VT 125 in Middlebury. The northern portion, from Poultney to Middlebury, was part of the New England road marking system's Route 30, from which VT 30 got its number. The route passes through many historic small towns, and travel writers such as those at Southern Vermont have described the route as "idyllic" and "picturesque".

The Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation is a state-recognized tribe and nonprofit organization, called AHA "Abenaki Helping Abenaki", whose headquarters and land are based in Vermont. They are often referred to as the Nulhegan Abenaki Tribe or simply, Nulhegan.

Southeast Vermont Transit (SEVT) is a local bus operator serving Windham County, Vermont, southern Windsor County, and parts of southern Bennington County. Three Brattleboro local routes and ten regional routes to the north are branded as Rockingham MOOver; five regional routes and eight ski resort circulator routes to the west are branded as Wilmington MOOver. The agency was formed in July 2015 by the merger of the Deerfield Valley Transit Association (DVTA) and Connecticut River Transit (CRT).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Thomas Chubbuck</span>

Thomas Chubbuck was an American copper and steel engraver and the designer of one of the earliest American gummed stamps, the "Brattleboro stamp", in 1846, as well as the engraver of the modern seal of Springfield, Massachusetts. While living in Boston, apprenticing as an engraver by profession and studying music as an amateur, he met Frederick N. Palmer, then a music teacher but future postmaster of the Brattleboro, Vermont post office. After the two had since-relocated to Brattleboro, Palmer would later ask Chubbuck to design a simple stamp for pre-paid postage in August 1846, which Chubbuck obliged "for the fun of the thing". Though a rarity, the Brattleboro stamp has been falsely described as the first postage stamp in the United States, Chubbuck modeled it after its preceding counterparts from Providence and the New York Postmaster's Provisional.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Arthur P. Carpenter</span> U.S. Marshal for Vermont

Arthur P. Carpenter was an attorney and government official from Vermont. A Democrat, among the offices in which he served was United States Marshal for the District of Vermont (1914-1922) and judge of the Brattleboro, Vermont municipal court (1923-1929).
