Total Request Live is an American television program broadcast on MTV that premiered on September 14, 1998. The early version of TRL featured popular music videos played during its countdown and was also used as a promotion tool by musicians, actors, and other celebrities to promote their newest works to target the show's teen demographic.

The term "K-pop" became popular in the 2000s, especially in the international context. The Korean term for domestic pop music is gayo, which is still widely used within South Korea. While "K-pop" can refer to all popular music or pop music from South Korea, it is colloquially often used in a narrower sense for any Korean music and artists associated with the entertainment and idol industry in the country, regardless of the genre.
Yo! MTV Raps is an American two-hour television music video program, which first aired on MTV Europe from 1987 to mid-90s and on MTV US from August 1988 to August 1995. The American version of the program was the first hip hop music show on the network, and was based on the original MTV Europe show, which first aired one year before the American version. Yo! MTV Raps produced a mix of rap videos, interviews with rap stars, live in-studio performances, and comedy. The show also yielded a Brazilian version called Yo! MTV and broadcast by MTV Brasil from 1990 to 2005.
Epik High (Korean: 에픽하이) is a South Korean hip-hop trio formed in 2001, composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz. Primarily based in Seoul, the group signed with Woollim Entertainment and released their first two studio albums, Map of the Human Soul (2003) and High Society (2004), to minor success. The trio rose to fame with the release of their follow-up studio albums, Swan Songs (2005), Remapping the Human Soul (2007), and Pieces, Part One (2008), spawning the hit singles "Fly", "Paris", "Fan", "Love Love Love", "One" and "Umbrella". Although the majority of these albums were censored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism due to themes of crimes, war, religion, and education, Epik High established themselves as one of the leading hip-hop artists in the country, gaining a cult following and critical plaudit.
Faheem Rashad Najm, known professionally as T-Pain, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for popularizing creative use of Auto-Tune pitch correction, often used with extreme parameter settings to create electronic-styled vocal performances. Blending its use with R&B and hip hop sensibilities, T-Pain become a prominent figure in both genres throughout the 2000s. Other music industry artists, such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Future, and Travis Scott, have since utilized Auto-Tune to a similar effect.
VH1 was a British and Irish pay television channel that was owned by ViacomCBS. The channel was based on the original VH1 American channel of the same name. The channel ceased broadcasting on 7 January 2020.

She was formerly seen as one of the four Chinese-American VJs on the now cancelled MTV spin-off channel MTV Chi, the first television channel dedicated to Chinese-Americans. Tang hosted the "Top Ten Chi Countdown" that counted down the week's most voted music videos among other shows.
"It's Raining" is a song by South Korean singer Rain, taken from his third Korean-language studio album of the same name (2004). It was released on October 8, 2004, in conjunction with the album, and was written and produced by Park Jin-young with additional arrangement credits by Kwon Tae-eun. It explores a more upbeat, hip-hop influenced sound in contrast to his previous releases.

Jay Park is an American rapper based in South Korea. He is a member of the Seattle-based b-boy crew Art of Movement (AOM), and founder and former CEO of the independent hip hop record labels AOMG and H1ghr Music, as well as the founder of the record label More Vision. Park returned to South Korea in June 2010 for the filming of Hype Nation, and in July, Park signed a contract with SidusHQ, one of the largest entertainment agencies in South Korea. Rebranding and re-debuting as both a solo singer and a rapper, Park has participated in the underground hip hop culture scene in South Korea, a rarity for both active and former K-Pop idols.
Pek Jin Shen, better known by his stage name Shigga Shay, is a Singaporean hip hop artist, songwriter, director and music producer. He is widely acknowledged as one of the prominent figures in Singapore's music industry, celebrated for his extensive body of work. ShiGGa Shay has achieved notable accomplishments throughout his career, including being recognised as the "Unsigned Talent of The Week" by WorldStarHipHop at 17 and securing multiple #1 singles on the iTunes Singapore Charts. Furthermore, he had the distinct honour of being invited to perform at the White House Afterparty for the State Dinner in Washington, DC.
It's Raining is the third Korean-language studio album by South Korean recording artist Rain, released through JYP Entertainment on October 8, 2004. Two singles were promoted for the album with accompanying music videos and promotions on music programs: the title track "It's Raining" and "I Do". The album was released in several territories throughout Asia in 2005, including Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
