Stow Bedon railway station is a closed station in Stow Bedon, Norfolk. It was initially opened in 1869 by the Great Eastern Railway network and became London and North Eastern Railway in 1923. It became British Railways in 1948 who closed the station in 1964. [1] [2]

Stow Bedon is village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Stow Bedon and Breckles, in the Breckland district of the English county of Norfolk. Stow Bedon adjoins the hamlet of Lower Stow Bedon, although the two are often considered to be one village. In the south of the parish is the village of Breckles. In 2011 the merged parish had a population of 290.

It opened in 1867 and was closed by the British Transport Commission in July 1953 due to low usage. The line itself survived until closure by British Rail in November 1982. The station has mostly been demolished although the signal box still survives, having been converted into a private dwelling after the closure of the line and subsequent removal of the track.

The site is now occupied by the west side of Bury Road Industrial Estate, and a new housing development aptly called Signal Road and The Sidings. It was the terminus of a branch line connected via Warboys railway station to Somersham, where it joined the main Great Eastern Railway line between St Ives and March, which at its upper end towards March is now occupied by the route A141 between Chatteris and March.

The Bury and Thetford, also known as the Crab and Winkle Line, was a railway line in England. It was formed of the Watton and Swaffham Railway, founded in 1866 as an independent venture by the Thetford and Watton Railway Company.
