The Dart River / Te Awa Whakatipu flows through rugged forested country in the southwestern South Island of New Zealand. Partly in Mount Aspiring National Park, it flows south-west and then south for 60 kilometres (37 mi) from its headwaters in the Southern Alps and the Dart Glacier, eventually flowing into the northern end of Lake Wakatipu near Glenorchy.
Athol is a small town in Southland, New Zealand. It is located on State Highway 6, 55 km south of Queenstown, halfway between Lumsden and Kingston on the Southern Scenic Route. Farming has always been very important in the district, though in earlier times gold mining, centred on nearby Nokomai, was also significant. In recent decades tourist numbers have grown. The Bettne River is a river of South Westland, New Zealand. A tributary of the Waiatoto River, it rises in the Southern Alps and flows north-westward to join that river 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the Bonar Flats.
The Cascade River is a river of the South Island of New Zealand. It flows north for 30 kilometres (19 mi) from its source in Mount Aspiring National Park in the Southern Alps, forming a deep valley between the Olivine Range and Red Hills Range. From the end of this valley it turns west to cross a low-lying swampy floodplain before entering the Tasman Sea close to Cascade Point, a headland halfway between Big Bay and Jackson Bay.
The Drake River is a river of New Zealand. It is located in southern Westland, and flows entirely within the Mount Aspiring National Park. The river follows a southerly course for seven kilometres before turning northeast to flow another five kilometres before reaching the Waiatoto River.
The Forgotten River is located in northern Fiordland, New Zealand and is a tributary of the Olivine River. The Forgotten River starts at the Forgotten River Col at the western edge of the Olivine Ice Plateau in the Five Finger Range. It flows south-westward to join the Olivine River as a hanging valley south of Four Brothers Pass.

It passes through Cascade Forest. Its mouth is about 15 km north-east of Awarua Point. The Gorge Islands are very small islands near the mouth. At its mouth, it is a fast tidal river.
The Greenstone River is a river in the Otago Region of New Zealand. It arises as the McKellar Branch in the Ailsa Mountains and as the Pass Burn in the Thomson Mountains, and joins the Caples River to flow into upper Lake Wakatipu. It is probably named because greenstone was found in the area. The Greenstone Track follows the river north along the McKellar Branch to Lake McKellar, joining the Hollyford Track. Another track follows the Pass Burn and reaches North Mavora Lake.
The Hacket River is a river on the West Coast of New Zealand. It starts in the Malcolm Range and flows south-west into the Tasman Sea.
The Hapuka River is a river of Westland District, New Zealand. It flows from near The Woolsack north-west to join the Okuru and Turnbull Rivers just before they enter the Tasman Sea. The river is slow-moving and drains swampy land. There are brown trout in the lagoon area.

Bound by the Richardson (Whakari) Mountains to the east and the Forbes Mountains to the west, its snow-covered headwaters rise above 2000 m.
The Stafford River is a river of the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows north, reaching the Tasman Sea 10 kilometres west of the western end of Jackson Bay.

The Routeburn River, also known as the Route Burn, is a river in New Zealand. It is a short stony river that flows for some 15 kilometres into the Dart River in the South Island. The Routeburn River flows alongside a section of the Routeburn Track. The upper reaches of the river are found in the Routeburn North Branch and leave the Routeburn Track around the Routeburn Flat Hut area.
The Darran Mountains are a prominent range within New Zealand's Fiordland National Park, the country's biggest national park. They contain the park's highest peak, Mount Tūtoko.
