The Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 (E3 2015) was the 21st E3 held. The event took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California. It took place from June 16 to June 18, 2015, with 52,200 total attendees.
Major exhibitors at the convention included Activision Blizzard, Atlus, Bethesda Softworks, [2] Electronic Arts, Microsoft Studios, Nintendo, Nvidia, Sony Computer Entertainment, Square Enix [3] and Ubisoft. [4]
While E3 is a closed event to only members of the video game industry and the media, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) allowed access to the event from gamers for the first time by distributing 5,000 tickets the various exhibitors that they subsequently distributed to their fans. [5]
Oculus VR hosted a pre-E3 press conference on June 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. [6] During the conference, Oculus Rift's final design was revealed. Oculus Touch, a controller for the Rift, as well as exclusives, including Damaged Core from High Voltage Software, VR Sports Challenge from Sanzaru Games, Chronos from Gunfire Games and Edge of Nowhere from Insomniac Games were announced. Bethesda hosted its first ever E3 press conference on June 14 at 7:00 p.m. [2] [9] During the conference, Bethesda Softworks revealed Fallout Shelter , Dishonored: Definitive Edition , Dishonored 2 , as well as The Elder Scrolls: Legends , a card game set within the Elder Scrolls universe. Release windows, trailers and gameplay demo were released for Fallout 4 , Doom and BattleCry .
Microsoft hosted a press conference on June 15 at 9:30 a.m. [9] During the conference, Microsoft announced ReCore , Xbox One backward compatibility, a new Elite controller, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 , Dark Souls III , Ashen , Beyond Eyes , Ion, Rare Replay , Sea of Thieves and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and showed footage of Halo 5: Guardians , Forza Motorsport 6 , Fallout 4 with mod support, Tom Clancy's The Division , Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege , Gigantic , Tacoma , Cuphead , Rise of the Tomb Raider , Fable Legends , a version of Minecraft compatible with Microsoft HoloLens and Gears of War 4 .
Electronic Arts hosted a press conference on June 15 at 1:00 p.m. [9] The conference lasted for an hour. [10] During the conference, Electronic Arts announced Mass Effect Andromeda , showed gameplay of Need for Speed , announced the Star Wars: The Old Republic – Knights of the Fallen Empire , Unravel , showed gameplay of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 , announced NHL 16 , NBA Live 16 , Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes , Minions Paradise , showed footage of FIFA 16 , showed gameplay of Mirror's Edge Catalyst , showed footage of Madden NFL 16 and showed gameplay of Star Wars Battlefront .
Ubisoft hosted a press conference on June 15 at 3:00 p.m. [11] During the conference, Ubisoft announced South Park: The Fractured but Whole , a new IP titled For Honor , The Crew Wild Run , Trials Fusion: Awesome Level Max , Anno 2205 , Just Dance 2016 , Trackmania Turbo and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands and showed gameplay of Tom Clancy's The Division , Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin's Creed Syndicate .
Sony hosted a press conference on June 15 at 6:00 p.m. [9] [12] During the conference, Sony re-announced The Last Guardian , announced a new IP titled Horizon Zero Dawn , Hitman , Dreams , Firewatch , Destiny: The Taken King , Final Fantasy VII Remake , and Shenmue III, in addition to showing footage of No Man's Sky , Assassin's Creed Syndicate , Batman: Arkham Knight , Call of Duty: Black Ops III , Disney Infinity 3.0 , Star Wars: Battlefront, Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End .
Nintendo, for a third consecutive E3, decided to forego hosting a traditional press conference in favor of a Nintendo Digital Event —a pre-recorded video presentation that was streamed online on June 16 at 9:00 a.m. with an accompanying press release. [9] Prior to E3, Nintendo also held an event, the Nintendo World Championships 2015 (a competition in which a group of players participated in a multi-round competition across multiple Nintendo games), and also featured the announcement of new content for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U , [13] EarthBound Beginnings , Blast Ball , and new gameplay of Super Mario Maker as part of the competition's finale. [14] [15] During the Digital Event, Nintendo announced Star Fox Zero , amiibo figures compatible with Skylanders: SuperChargers , The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes , Hyrule Warriors Legends , Metroid Prime: Federation Force , Fire Emblem Fates , Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE , showed footage of Xenoblade Chronicles X , announced Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer , Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival , showed footage of Yoshi's Woolly World , announced Yo-kai Watch , Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam , Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and showed footage of Super Mario Maker.
Square Enix hosted a press conference on June 16 at 10:00 a.m. [9] During the conference, Square Enix announced Nier: Automata under the provisional title Nier New Project, Lara Croft Go , Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ , Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness and a new IP titled I Am Setsuna and showed footage of Just Cause 3 , Rise of the Tomb Raider , Kingdom Hearts III , World of Final Fantasy , Hitman and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided . Announcement footage of Final Fantasy VII Remake was revealed as part of Sony's presentation.
A webcast focusing on PC gaming was held on June 16 at 5:00 p.m. by gaming magazine PC Gamer and AMD, and hosted by Sean Plott. Representatives of studios including Blizzard Entertainment, Microsoft Studios, Bohemia Interactive, Paradox Interactive, Obsidian Entertainment, as well as Tripwire Interactive, ArenaNet, The Creative Assembly, Frictional Games, Frontier Developments, SCS Software, Splash Damage, Square Enix, Cloud Imperium Games and Devolver Digital made appearances. Beyond Good & Evil is a 2003 action-adventure game developed and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 2, Windows, Xbox, and GameCube. The story follows the adventures of Jade, an investigative reporter, martial artist, and spy hitwoman working with a resistance movement to reveal a sinister alien conspiracy. Players control Jade and other allies, solving puzzles, fighting enemies, obtaining photographic evidence and, later in the game, travelling to space.
Kingdom Hearts III is a 2019 action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and Nintendo Switch. It is the twelfth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series, and serves as a conclusion of the "Dark Seeker Saga" story arc that began with the original game. Set after the events of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, returning protagonist Sora is joined by Donald Duck, Goofy, King Mickey, and Riku in their search for seven guardians of light as they attempt to thwart Xehanort's plan to bring about a second Keyblade War. Their journey has them cross paths with characters and visit worlds based on different Disney and Pixar intellectual properties.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an upcoming video game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and to be published by Ubisoft. It is a prequel to Beyond Good & Evil, released in 2003. Its development was characterized in the media by uncertainty, doubt and rumors about the game's future. The game was announced as a sequel at Ubidays 2008 with almost a decade of silence before being reannounced as a prequel at Ubisoft's E3 2017 conference, although no release window or target platforms have been mentioned.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots was a tactical first-person shooter video game and part of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series. It was announced on the cover of the December 2011 issue of Game Informer. The game was to be published by Ubisoft, and was developed by the company's Montreal studio, with additional development by Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm Entertainment. Due to the death of Tom Clancy in October 2013, concern was raised that Patriots would be the final game credited with his name; Ubisoft has since stated that they will continue to apply Tom Clancy's name on future Tom Clancy titles, out of respect for the late author.

It began on June 5, 2012, and ended on June 7, 2012, with 45,700 total attendees. It was televised on Spike and streamed online to computers, mobile devices, PlayStation Home and on Xbox Live via IGN's application. This was the last event to be broadcast by G4 along with being the last one to feature a physical press conference by Nintendo which mainly focused on games that were coming to the then upcoming Wii U video game console that launched later that year and was later considered to be a commercial failure.
The year 2015 saw releases of numerous video games as well as a follow-up to Nintendo's portable 3DS console, the New Nintendo 3DS. Top-rated games originally released in 2015 included Madden NFL 16, NBA 2K16, NBA Live 16, WWE 2K16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Bloodborne, Undertale, and Fallout 4. Sales of video games in 2015 reached $61 billion, according to analysis firm SuperData, an 8% increase from 2014. Of this, the largest sector was in computer game sales and subscription services, accounting for $32 billion. Mobile games revenues were at $25.1 billion, a 10% increase from 2014. Digital sales on consoles made up the remaining $4 billion.
Numerous video games were released in 2016. New hardware came out as well, albeit largely refreshed and updated versions of consoles in the PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4 Slim, and Xbox One S. Commercially available virtual reality headsets were released in much greater numbers and at much lower price points than the enthusiast-only virtual reality headsets of earlier generations. Augmented reality also became mainstream with Pokémon Go. Top-rated games originally released in 2016 included Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Inside, Overwatch, Forza Horizon 3, Madden NFL 17, WWE 2K17, NBA 2K17, Dark Souls III, and Battlefield 1 and Doom 2016. The top five highest-grossing video games of 2016 were League of Legends, Honor of Kings/Arena of Valor, Monster Strike, Clash of Clans, and Dungeon Fighter Online.

Tom Clancy's The Division is an online-only action role-playing video game developed by Massive Entertainment and published in 2016 by Ubisoft, for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. It is set in a near future New York City in the aftermath of a viral pandemic; the player, a Special Agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, is tasked with helping the group rebuild its operations in Manhattan, investigate the nature of the outbreak, and combat criminal activity in its wake. The Division is structured with elements of role-playing games, as well as cooperative and player versus player online multiplayer. This game also marks the debut of Massive and Ubisoft's Snowdrop game engine. Some of the game's characters are featured in XDefiant.

Approximately 50,300 people attended the event, slightly down from the previous year's. With video game consoles currently a couple years into their 8th generation, the focus of E3 2016 was primarily on new software titles, with new hardware revisions and auxiliary equipment to support the growing market sectors of 4K resolution displays and virtual reality headsets.
Snowdrop is a proprietary game engine created by Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft for use on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and Luna. It was revealed at E3 2013 with Tom Clancy's The Division, the first game using the engine. Snowdrop is one of the primary game engines used by Ubisoft along with Disrupt, Dunia, and Ubisoft Anvil.

The event, organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 13–15, 2017. It was the first E3 to allow public access to the event, and as a result, the total attendance was about 68,400 which included 15,000 in public passes.

The event, organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), was to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 9–11, 2020. However, due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the ESA announced it would cancel the event, marking the first time since the launch of E3 in 1995 that it was not held. In lieu of that, several publishers made plans to continue with presentations of game announcements during the planned E3 period, while others opted to use more traditional marketing throughout the year.
