Pidurutalagala, or previously Mount Pedro in English, is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, at 2,524 m (8,281 ft). It is situated North-North-East from the town of Nuwara Eliya and is easily visible from most areas of the Central Province. Its summit is home to the central communications array of the Government of Sri Lanka and armed forces and serves as an important point in the country's radar system. The peak is currently designated as an "ultra-high security zone", and protected by a large military base; the peak is strictly off-limits to the general public.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured England in the 2002 season to play a three-match Test series against England, followed by a triangular One Day International tournament that also featured India. Sri Lanka finished in third place in the ODI tournament, while England won the Test series 2–0 with one match drawn.

Sangaman Kanda or Sangaman Kandy is a small village in Ampara. It is located within Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. It is the east extreme points of Sri Lanka and located at 3 meters above the sea level.

The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured England from 8 May to 5 July 2016 for a three-match Test series, a five-match One Day International (ODI) series and a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) against the England cricket team. England won the Test series 2–0, the ODI series 3–0 and won the one-off T20I match by 8 wickets.

It was a tri-nation series between the national representative cricket teams of the Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. The hosts Sri Lanka won the tournament by defeating the West Indies by 34 runs in the final by D/L method.

The 2001 Sri Lanka Coca-Cola Cup was a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament held in Sri Lanka in late June 2001. It was a tri-nation series between the national representative cricket teams of the Sri Lanka, India and New Zealand. Sri Lanka won the tournament by defeating India by 121 runs in the final.

The 1987–88 World Series was a One Day International (ODI) cricket tri-series where Australia played host to New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Australia and New Zealand reached the Finals, which Australia won 2–0.

The 2000 Singer Triangular Series was an ODI cricket tournament held in Sri Lanka from 5 to 14 July 2000. It featured the national cricket teams of South Africa, Pakistan and the hosts, Sri Lanka. The competition was won by Sri Lanka, which defeated South Africa in the final.

The 2002 NatWest Series was a One Day International cricket tri-series sponsored by the National Westminster Bank that took place in England between 27 June and 13 July 2002. The series involved the national teams of England, India and Sri Lanka. Ten matches were played in total, with each team playing one another thrice during the group stage. The teams which finished in the top two positions following the group stages qualified for the final, which India won by defeating England at Lord's on 13 July by 2 wickets. Preceding the series, England played Sri Lanka in a three Test series, while following the series, India played England in a four Test series.

The Afghanistan cricket team toured Sri Lanka in November 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. These matches formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. All three matches were played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Sri Lanka recovered from losing the first match, and the second encounter ending with no result due to rain, to level the series in the third game.
